I do that periodically when I'm particularly annoyed with my abysmal putting. Probably make more putts with the back of my RH Anser than I do with any of the LH putters in my collection though.

I've known two guys who did that. One was a pro at my club. I thought he was just funning around with us the first time I played with him, but nope.

i wonder if it's a right or left eye dominant thing in addition to a right or left side dominant thing.

I think it does make a difference if you are talking about putting because if you are right handed and left eye dominant then you will see the line a little better. If you putt RH, then the left side should control the motion or "stear the ship". This is a lot easier and most importantly more natural if a RH putts LH. It's funny you bring this up though because when I give a putting lesson, one of the first things I always ask someone is if they are right or left eye dominant.

lol that's right, I think they wanted to always have a putt breaking right to left. I never understood this and I could care less if my putt is downhill or uphill or if it breaks left to right or right to left.

Whats better:

1) being fitted outside at the driving range (trackman) with range balls
2) inside (Trackamn) with proper golf balls but without those metallic dots (stickers) ?

Easily #2, you don't need dots for trackman.

Pros and cons for each. Some if it’s personal preference. Generally speaking, the better the player the more one should lean towards outside and vice versa.

I got fitted for a driver this summer. The fitting was done on Trackman and my avg clubhead speed was 106 and I was getting an average spin of 2750.

Since then I've been using Stack and doing some other things to pick up speed, and I'm averaging 110+ and have hit 118. The problem is now my spin rate is 3750-4000 as measured by SkyTrak.

My questions are does that big of a jump in spin rate with a couple mph increase in clubhead speed make sense, and do I need to get fit again and probably get a different shaft? I suspect the answers are yes and yes....

Yep. Yes and yes. Chances are with your increased clubhead speed you are probably overloading the shaft thus creating the extra spin.

Next question, when a shaft adapter is glued on how long should you wait for the epoxy to set? PGA Superstore said to wait 48 hours, but everything online seems to say 24.

If the club builder is even remotely competent overnight is fine. Leave the club outside the bag so it can properly dry and adhere.

If somebody really knows what they’re doing the club can be hit in an hour or two. I don’t recommend testing that timeframe however.

results:

I tried a Calloway. Meh.

Tried TaylorMade. Decent but waaaaaaaaaay too much spin.

Sorry, don't knows specs of either club above.

Went with the Ping G425, 10.5 degree, with rougue white 130 msi 70s shaft. The club felt heavy at first but after a few swings felt normal.

Can't wait for Arizona in February to let 'er rip.

Nice. Where did you get fit?

Indoor or outdoor? What kind of launch monitor?

Golf Galaxy, indoor. Trackman.

My stats were:

Club speed: I topped out around 104 MPH.
Ball speed: 140ish MPH.
Spin: was up near 4000 with TM but got it down to low 2000's with Ping.
My launch angle blows. Consistently around 8 degrees.

Bottom line is I rob myself of distance by hitting down on the ball. My typical attack angle is around -2 degrees. I need to learn to hit up on the ball.

With the release of the TSR line of drivers and fairways Titleist has been offering free fittings at select retailers. I had mine this morning and it was a pleasant experience. It's a 30 minute session and I was only interested in being fitted for a driver. Indoors, in a fitting studio, on a Trackman.

Started out by hitting my current gamer, a 915D3 9.5* with shorter (playing 44.5") Atmos Blue TS 6S. Once I hit a handful of drivers to set a baseline and get warmed up, the fun began. Looking at the data, it lined up with my usual distances and direction. Short but relatively straight and a nice tight dispersion. It's set up for accuracy more than distance.

Tried the TSR2 first with a stock Tensei Blue 55R. Immediately saw gains of 3mph clubhead speed, 12mph of ball speed. Hit my existing shaft with the TSR2 head and it was only fractionally shorter. Definitely better than the 915D3 head.

Also tried the Tensei Blue in stiff and the Tensei 1k Black and neither was as good.

Moved on to the TSR3 and immediately liked it even better. Ball speed was a little bit higher and it just fit the eye. Same shaft was the best and was very comfortable.

Wrapped it up by hitting a few drives with my existing shaft and the TSR3 head and the numbers were right there with the Tensei Blue. Again, tighter dispersion with the shorter shaft.

It wasn't a super deluxe try everything fitting and I don't have the swing speed (topped out at 90 mph) to get a lot of benefit from the exotic shafts, though it would have been fun to test a Ventus.

Conclusions: Every ball I hit with the TSR3 head, whether with the Tensei Blue or my existing shaft, was at least 5 yards longer than my best drive with the 915D3 head. Average was a good 20 yards longer. The best was almost 30 yards longer than my best 915D3 drive. I would benefit from a more modern head.

Pleasantly surprised to have a positive AoA on every swing. Expected that with my periodic popup issues that I would not be consistently hitting up.

Biggest issue is face angle, which is consistently closed. Every shot was left of the center line. No surprise. Spin numbers were good and launch angle was in a good range though maybe a shade low.

Feels like I did a decent job of self-fitting when I settled on the Atmos, results with the TSR3 head were right there with the best of the stock shafts. If I stumble across one that plays a little longer than the one I have I'm going to grab it. Looks like Titleist only has X flexes left in blue, they do have the red in stiff but if I'm going to pay an upcharge I'll get a more thorough fitting first.

Might be an expensive offseason.
