I'm 52 years old, 53 on Halloween.

About 5 years ago I shot my best scores ever on a weekend.

36-43 Saturday.

42-36 Sunday.

I also shot another 79 and a 41 stableford within 2 weeks.

I dropped to 10.4 on my results.

I thought I would be dropped to 9.4 or less on general play for my last 4 results.

But the h/c sec at the time didn't want to do that. Against the grain for some reason.

Since then I kinda lost the plot. Illnesses in the family and my mother died, so golf was less important.

Current h/c is 18.0.

I have agreed with my wife that I will move closer to her family now that my parents are gone, so will be leaving my club in two years max.

Before I leave I want to try to get to 9.x.

I am crap at driving, am ok at the middle game and am decent at short game.

GL me!

Going to start practicing again next week.

Target: Single figure h/c by September 2015.

I'll update it here if anyone is interested.

Decent short game is the key. If u read my 'New Goals' thread I believe anything can be done right now. I just posted todays score to GHIN.COM where I shot the worst round I have shot in 30 days which was an 81. I honestly don't think I could score worse at this time b/c I am playing so much better.
I was a 12 handicapper from mid 90's til a month ago although I never tracked it. ( I always shot between 78-88, never better never worse.
I took a lesson and something has clicked and my index is a 1.6 and Im pretty darn happy. I think I can go much lower and my goal is to get to a + index within the next year. Good luck !

Thanks for the support. I had seen your thread and that is actually why I decided to start one of my own, so thanks for that too.

I intended to get down and practice hard this last year, and started off pretty well, but lost my momentum for various reasons and just kinda drifted for the rest of the season.

I'm hitting the ball pretty well, but have just got very wayward again. I'm not a natural golfer and need to put the time in. I have a pitching net and a bag of wiffle balls I can use in my back garden, and I haven't touched them at all this year. It's only at the end of the season that I am feeling pretty pissed off with myself. Only been to the range a couple of times too.

I'm going to set myself the target of practicing at least a couple of times a week over the winter (weather permitting), and to hopefully be scoring in the mid-80s when the new season starts in April. I will be playing better-ball stableford winter league each Saturday until then and each monthly medal, and probably be a substitute for Sunday winter league.

Good luck with your goals too!
