Have our annual Myrtle Beach trip coming up in a little over the week wanted to know what your favorite gambling games were. We have 8 guys this year. One guy is a single digit handicapper while the rest of us are bogey golfers. We were thinking of doing some type of Ryder Cup event this year, but that would be a lot to keep track of.

What are some gambling games you guys play on the course?

Dots. Score points for predetermined goals like closest to, nearie, poley, sandy, 1 putt, 3 putt etc. Points can be worth whatever $$$ amount

Insult. Different teams each hole. First hole starts out random and select 1 picker. 3 nonpickers tee off and picker picks his partner. Next hole, the person who was picked is the picker. Point per hole and picker can go alone but it doubles the points.

Can do a combination of Dots and Insult at the same time

Teams of 4 with Ryder cup is super easy and fun. I'm part of a group of guys that do that twice a year. Depending on how many days/rounds you have this is how we do it.

First round each team of 4 all plays together and we do a two better ball for every hole and compare that total number to the other team two better ball and winning team gets 2 points.

The next 2-3 rounds are two man match play matches against other team and rotates around with you play with on your team and against (so everyone gets to play with everyone). Winning twosome gets a point for their team.

Last round is singles matches one on one with each match being a point. Just try to make the scoring system in a way so that it's almost impossible for single matches to not matter. For example going into our singles my team needed 1.5 points to win the cup.

Wolfhammer is a great for golf gambling generally, maybe not well suited for your Ryder cup format though.

Similar to this but we call it "wolf". You all take turns being the picker and keep the same rotation on every tee (different person tees off first every hole - this is important). Picker is whoever tees off last and picks a partner. If you are going to pick a partner you have to pick them after they tee off and before the next person tees off. You don't get to watch all 3 and then pick, so if you don't pick the first 2 then you better hope #3 hits a good one. If you don't pick anyone then you can "go wolf" and play alone but you pay double if you lose and get double if you win. You play best ball so the low score for that hole out of the 2 players on your team is what you get. If you go wolf you gotta beat everyone. One tie, all tie. Carry overs are optional. This is a lot of fun and it helps to be able to switch partners up every hole. Keeps it interesting.

Pretty old school - and cheap. Always play dollar-dollar-dollar (or 5-5-5) with auto press when down 2. New bets at the turn allowed.

Wolf with 5 players is my fave but doesn't come up often.

My buddy and I usually play skins, with a nassau (front, back and overall) plus sayonaras.

Call Sayonara for any putt outside the length of the flagstick. Make it, you win. 3 putt, you lose. 2 putt is a push.

We include a Blind Wolf bet as well. Call Wolf before anyone tees off and it triples the bet.

We also play it different. The Wolf, or Picker, tees off first. He can call blind wolf before he tees off for triple bet. Call Wolf after he tees off for Double, or pick one one of the next players as a partner for a single bet. Similarly he has to pick a partner right after his tees shot and before the next one. If he doesn't pick anyone, he's stuck with the last guy as a partner.

The best part of that game is being first to tee off, ripping one down the middle and simply howling like a wolf...then finishing it off with a birdie and collecting double dots from everyone.
