Fabrizio Zanotti hit by a ball on the first round of KLM Open. Play was suspended and Zanotti sent to the hospital.

Hope he's well!

crazy story. must be serious if they stopped play. let's hope for the best. Zanotti is from Paraguay.

edit: i think play has continued .. found more info:

Zanotti was on the 16th hole when he was hit by Alexandre Kaleka’s tee ball on the adjacent 14th. The AFP reported that Zanotti was struck in the forehead and blood began “pouring from the wound.” Fellow competitors Felipe Aguilar and Ricardo Gonzalez withdrew from the event to travel in the ambulance with Zanotti.

In a statement, the European Tour said that Zanotti never lost consciousness and an on-site doctor determined that he was not in any immediate danger.

“The latest report from the hospital is that all neurological tests have come back clear,” said Miguel Vidaor, tournament director for the European Tour. “We wish Fabrizio a speedy recovery.”

Good to hear that he is okay. Nice gesture by Gonzalez and Aguilar to follow him in the ambulance.

Oliver Wilson just won his first tournament on the European Tour at the Dunhill Cup played today on the Old Course. When asked how he would celebrate he said, "I don't know, might be drunk for a long time!"

Refreshing, honest answers like this is just one of the many reasons why the Euros kick ass in the Ryder Cup.

The first of four tournaments in European Tour Final Series(none of the tournaments in Europe obviously) is this weekend.

October 30-November 3 - BMW Masters, Shanghai
November 6-9 - WGC-HSBC Champions, Shanghai
November 13-16 - Turkish Airlines Open, Antalya
November 20-23 - DP World Tour Championship, Dubai

Definitely a better lineup than what the PGA tour has this fall.

I wonder how annoyed the BMW people are that a guy sponsored by Mercedes won their tournament?

Didn't see it referenced, but I imagine if Ross Fisher had won the playoff it would have been a Tour record for largest final round comeback (11 strokes).

Only caught glimpses of the final round. Amazing a course can go from everyone slaying it for three rounds to being absolutely brutal on Sunday. Would be curious about scoring averages by round. I didn't see anyone on the first page of the leaderboard other than Fisher under par, which makes his -5 that much more insane. Teeing off on the ninth hole, the leader was -21 but made a bad double bogey (I believe Siem made a birdie on that same hole to tie him at -19). The announcers foreshadowed how tough the back nine was playing and when I next checked in he was on the 18th hole putting for bogey to get into the playoff. Total trainwreck.

Its painful to see Siem whine after every shot he makes.

Nah.

Well done Koepka. He played really solid for most of the last round. At the 17th when someones phone rang I thought he was gonna tilt.

Also nice to see Wade Ormsby play well. I remember 2 or 3 years ago when he played the swedish tour.

What a complete meltdown by Cabrera-Bello. Doubles both 16 and 17. On 16 he hits his drive in the fairway bunker, approximately 175 yards to the hole, he hits a middle iron which he duffs (whats the caddie doing here? OMG) the ball bounces on the fairway into the water. The ball is still playable so he decides to go on the green, which is approximately 80 yards away with both water in front of and behind the green. He hits it too far and into the water behind the green. I doubt anyone could play that hole worse than he did. Actually he saved double there.

While Cabrera-Bello had an epic meltdown Stenson birdied 16 and 17 to win. BOSS!

Watched the European Tour Qualifying School summary. Sebastian Gros from France finished the last round with 3 straight bogies and missed a 2 meter for European Tour Card on 18th. Was heart breaking watching a tear eyed Gros not being able to even talk during the interview. Must be insane to be so close to your dream.

Kaymer meltdown on the way.

From ten shot lead to 2 shots in just a few holes.

According to the commentator Schwartzel had a similar meltdown last week, I completely missed that.
