Nick Watney shot 77 and is 147/156 place.

He might have needed another week of rest. But at least he is back.

MLB has 71 positive test on intake testing. Tell me again how the PGA is risking peoples lives with the 4 positive test or whatever it is after 4 weeks.

Your logic is exactly why America is in the mess we find ourselves.

It isn’t risking four lives. They risked everyone’s lives with their travel plans coupled with no testing.

Things seems stable because of luck of the hat, they are playing in safe places and aren’t traveling as much. And they finally realized they need to have results back before going in the faux-bubble (duh).

Those four people could also spread it to four others which becomes four hundred thousand. These golfers become a link on the spread.

I'm confused is the narrative still that healthy people are at risk of dying from this too? All these professional athlete positive tests are doing is proving the opposite. They're quarantining and able to play a couple of weeks later

1) No, we have known that young people don’t generally die. We don’t know any long-term effects as of it.

2) The golfers, just like everyone else, is passing it on to others. Some will die.

Once again, this laissez-faire attitude is why we found ourselves in this predicament. Now it is probably too late, but you really do want to do everything to eliminate it as much as possible. One case is too many.

I'm confused that people still don't get that it's not just 80+ people who should take this seriously.

You may want to read up on Nick Cordero.

He was young(ish - certainly compared to a number of people on tour), fit, healthy and had no known conditions that would put him at risk.

He spent 3 months battling Corona, including comas, strokes and amputations before he died.

(He's not the only one btw - but one of the more famous ones)

Yea dont mean to say COVID isnt real or isnt deadly but if a professional golfer wants to golf he should be able to.

And so many athletes are having positive tests and are perfectly fine. Obviously they should avoid 80 year olds and other vulnerable people and I'm sure they do

So many are having positive tests and the testing negative. The average person doesnt typically do that so it's made me question the accuracy of the tests the public are getting the inflated cases being reported.

Jimmie johnson just had the same thing happen. (Lol nascar clicked bc I thought it was the cowboys coach)

As an Eagles fan I'm disappointed it wasn't the Cowboys coach.

We normalized getting infected by a pretty bad virus. One that many other countries eliminated.

It is not just these guys getting it. Their health impacts others as well.

The PGA not taking strong steps to negate the risks is nearly unforgivable. They knowingly let a fairly size-able group get infected. They finally acknowledged how weak their plans were and changed it. Who knows if enough.

These golfers are all on the virus chain ensuring this continues. Not unacceptable. We’ve given up. They are talking about instituting stay at home orders again. We just can’t get this under control and it’s frustrating.

On Monday, the Tour will extend that plan to play without fans at the season’s remaining nine events, including the three FedExCup playoff stops and next month’s PGA Championship.

The move to play without fans for the rest of the season is a response to increased coronavirus outbreaks across the country.

In last week’s announcement to not have fans at the Memorial, Tour commissioner Jay Monahan referred to “the broader challenges communities are facing,” and said the focus was now on “the health and safety of all involved.” The commissioner added that the Tour would welcome fans, “when the time is right.”
Fortunately this really doesn’t hurt the tv product.

It really won't be a surprise for them to play the rest of the season without fans. Of all the professional sports the PGA Tour is probably about the least dependent on fan revenues. Sure, the local charities take a big hit from no fans, but the tour itself should be relatively insulated. If it continues beyond the end of the current season perhaps purses start taking a hit.

Pro-ams and the associated corporate tents are expensive and generate a lot of money.

Phoenix Open has 200,000 fans.

This hurts them big time.

I read Murray's statement and one positive thing I took away from it is that the message seems to be getting through to the participants -- if you're experiencing symptoms, get tested. Don't travel. Self-isolate.

There are always going to be people who try and suck it up, it's human nature. If that can be sufficiently overcome the PGA Tour can carry on.

I didn't go looking to see if he said anything about how he may have been exposed. The reality is there are so many possibilities he may not even know.

Also not sure why but golfers tend to be republican and we now how many of them feel about masks

I got a kick when they showed the picture of them tearing out the green. Every worker was Mexican wonder if legal?

It's already been explained why. Typically higher IQ than other sports and coming from warm red states.

They also give you more money if you don’t go to the tournament and report it from home. It is all about the PR. Looks far worse for a player to have to WD onsite.

Allowing more people inside the bubble without any testing. What could possibly go wrong?

Nick Watney recovered enough to post a good score today.

Having COVID did not improve his interviewing skills however.

Seems the much ballyhooed bubble burst.

It also seems that this is going to happen in almost every sport that attempts to proceed.

Travel.

PGA Tour has gotten some lucky breaks.

But more than anything, basically the entire tour is replaceable.
