They tend not to have the issues that the general population has that causes the increase in hospitalizations and deaths, though. Not much obesity among professional golfers and not that many preexisting heart and lung issues given that they are required to walk miles daily.
Sure there are additional things that could be done to reduce risk. But at some point it stops being golf. If the players, caddies and tournament workers are willing to accept a certain level of risk, let them play.
