The appearance of the double post isn't that unusual. Being 2 1/2 hours apart is hard to figure out.

It was that important I had to post twice.

Odd. Can a mod remove please.

Cameras all over the resort and 24/7 direct livestreams from all of them. And free alcohol ldo.

It'd be awesome.

Yes!

They should have added an entertainment factor.

Instead we are left with who tested positive this week.

Denny McCarthy come on down..... I actually never heard of him before today.

Ig golfnutt is correct by the time they get to Memorial the course will look like the Jonestown massacre at the end of the tournament.

Denny McCarthy withdrew from the Travelers Championship on Friday after becoming the third PGA Tour player to test positive for COVID-19.

McCarthy shot a 3-under-par 67 during the first round on Thursday, when he was paired with Bud Cauley and Matt Wallace. He also played in the first two events following the tour's hiatus due to the coronavirus, finishing 66th at the Charles Schwab Challenge and missing the cut at the RBC Heritage.

Cauley, who played with McCarthy on Thursday, also withdrew before Friday's second round.
Two players actually. One may have escaped being tested positive.

Thoughts and prayers.

It's ok, all 3 players in that group are pretty expendable.

Jay Monahan, the Tour’s commissioner, said: “What Denny, Bud and others are demonstrating is exactly what we asked of everyone – continue to do your part in taking this virus seriously and keeping not only your own health as a priority, but also that of your fellow competitors and those you may come in contact with. Today’s update again demonstrates our rigorous and quick testing, contact tracing capabilities and overall healthy and safety protocols.”
Lololol.

What testing? What safety protocols?

Aren't they testing everyone once they get to the tournament site? This is the 2nd negative test who tested positive just a couple days later, after they started feeling symptoms.

Makes me think the testing is not really reliable enough. That's 2 positive players who were allowed to enter and play in events out of 3 weeks. Not great.

My understanding is it takes a couple days to get the test results. So I think someone could do a test on Sunday, have the result show negative on Wednesday, do another test Wednesday, tee it up on Thursday and Friday, and then have see a positive result on Saturday.

They test on arrival. It takes a couple of days to get results. During the wait time, you get to practice at the course. That is the only test they do. And they only test 40% of people. They aren’t testing volunteers at all.

When they do their contract tracing testing, they used a rapid test which is highly inaccurate.

I suspect the majority got it playing in South Carolina and we are continuing to see the fall out.

They have a horrible safety protocol. Truly abysmal. They have brainwashed their players that they’re doing a good job. The positive tests are their fault. If the social distance they are fine.

Very unprofessional for a professional sports organization.

He tested negative.

Starting next week players and caddies will not be allowed inside the bubble until after their test comes back negative.

An extended 10 minute interview with the Commish just now on GC. Kudos to Monahan for being proactive and adaptive as the season gets up to speed. He deserves an A+ for his leadership thus far.

I just wonder the rate of false negatives with these tests. Watney and McCarthy both tested negative on Tues and then positive on Friday. In both cases the only reason they got re-tested was because they felt symptoms.

Unless they got infected between Tues and Thurs/Fri when they started feeling ill (highly unlikely because there is an incubation period before symptoms), that would indicate the Tuesday tests were false negatives.

It will be interesting to see what happens next week.

Last week

Quote:
In the last 24 hours, I have had a family member test positive for COVID-19," Simpson said in a statement on Wednesday. "While my tests this week were negative, I feel like it is my responsibility to take care of my family and protect my peers in the field by withdrawing from the Travelers Championship. I am going to return home to Charlotte and quarantine under CDC guidelines, and I look forward to returning to competition after that time period."

Webb Simpson, the world’s fifth-ranked player, was a late addition to the field that was announced at Friday’s entry deadline for the Rocket Mortgage Classic, the PGA Tour tournament that will be played next week without fans at Detroit Golf Club.
How does he go from a family member has it and he needs to withdraw immediately and quarantine per CDC guidelines to no family member has it and I am going to play again?

I guess it is no longer his responsibility to care of his family and protect his peers...

Yeah the testing is not ready for prime time. Funny thing is he said he was feeling great and was surprised by the positive test.

This is not unique to the PGA of course, the testing just isn't that reliable at this stage.

CROMWELL, Conn. -- In the aftermath of seven withdrawals related to the coronavirus at this week's Travelers Championship, the PGA Tour on Saturday implemented a new policy that will prohibit players from being on property while waiting for their first test result in a new city.
Very proactive. Am I using that term correctly?

Quote:
Over the past three weeks as part of its Return to Golf, the Tour has been committed to learning from an operational standpoint and adjusting protocols in place in order to mitigate risk and promote the health and safety of all involved, including players, caddies, staff and volunteers," the PGA Tour said in a statement.
Yeah, we learned we have no clue what we’re doing. It only took us three weeks and a slew of positive tests and withdrawals.

Quote:
Beginning at next week's Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club, all those considered "inside the bubble" by the PGA Tour -- players, caddies, instructors, physiotherapists and staff -- will need a negative result before being permitted on the grounds.
What about the hundreds of other people that aren’t considered essential but are humans inside the bubble? And have feelings and families and can only get and transmit the virus?

Nada!

Thoughts and prayers to the ones that have been stricken with this virus in the past and those that will get it in the future.

Oh, do you plan to explain how Webb Simpson had to withdraw due to a family member having it and a week later is able to tee it up?

Or why Jason Day wanted a test and he played alone?

Jokers.

Rapid tests have up to a 48% failure rate. As far as the PGA Tour goes, that’s a huge win!

I wouldn’t believe a single thing the PGA Tour says, starting with statement that health and safety is their #1 priority.
