***”Champ will have the PGA TOUR's full support throughout his self-isolation period under CDC guidelines," the organization's statement reads.”***

That’s so sweet. Nothing beats thoughts and prayers.

Well, perhaps a robust testing program and not playing in pandemic hot spots.

This is definitely helping players who were alternates to get into the field. In a few weeks time, we’ll have ntnBO playing.

And another one bites the dust.

More thoughts and prayers go out to our fallen comrades. Please understand, the show must go on.

lol golfnutt. Are you seriously expecting no one to get the virus? Have you left your house since this has started? You probably have already been exposed and have had the virus.

I am (was) expecting the PGA to do everything they could to protect their most valuable asset by limiting travel and having a sound safety protocol in place.

They could have done a far better job than they’re doing right now. Which is basically nothing.

Why the **** do you care so much??

Millions of people are essentially being forced to go back to work with far less testing/protection than pro golfers have. Thousands of people are catching the virus every day.

Your over-the-top posts about the pro golf tour starting up again are sheer lunacy.

LOL golfnutt

Stay in your homes FOREVER!!!

Maybe these dudes realize the virus isn't that much of a risk to their life and they know how to isolate themselves if they do get it to get over it and resume life as normal.

When do you think people should start leaving their houses again?

Again, if players aren't happy with the standards the PGA has set, they don't have to play. You realize that right?

I will agree with Golfnutt that the travel procedures seem ill advised, given that plane travel forces people close together into a sealed container for several hours. They could have set up shop in one area and played all tournaments on a rotation that would allow each player to have a single home base and drive to each tournament.

Still no guarantee no one would get it though. As stated already, most of us are heading back to work, like it or not, with far less protections and screening than the PGA. People are going to catch this regardless. I've seen estimates that over half the US population will probably get COVID before it's all said and done.

But I do think Golfnutt makes some valid points about how the PGA is handling it (letting Watney on site even after he said he felt symptomatic seems very bad).

From Yahoo sports today:

***And with reports that a well-known player’s daughter has also tested positive this week, and that a travelling member of staff of another pro is also feared to be suffering, there is obvious concern.***

You guys do realize this is exactly how it starts to spread across the country? It is not just the players. You are greatly expanding spreaders.

Once again:
I AM NOT AGAINST THE PGA STARTING UP!

I am opposed to their ‘plan’.

They should have limited travel and played in places that aren’t suffering outbreaks (duh).

How do you think things will go when they allow 8,000 fans to watch them for four straight days next month? They can’t even come close to containing it among themselves.

This ain’t pretty.

If the players were opposed to the plan wouldn't they have spoken up? Aren't they the only ones who should give a ****?

There also still seems to be some misconception about this virus being avoidable. Everyone is getting this at some point.

Unfortunately I think we’re all going to get it eventually. Best course of action is to take precautions to slow the spread, while realizing that we cannot stop the spread. This way the hospitals can handle it better as opposed to being overrun.

The truth is harsh, I’m sure that I’m not alone in that I have people in my family which covid is a near certain death sentence. A young lady with cystic fibrosis is particularly vulnerable. I don’t want it to spread, but if we’re going to be realistic, then we need to accept that we can’t control other people. We can only control ourselves. Some of us are better at this than others.

They certainly went from hero to zero in a matter of days.

But there will definitely be players willing to take the spots of their fallen comrades. Thoughts and prayers.

This is a terrible look for the PGA. I expected them to do far more to protect their players.

Press conference later today. Apparently some caddies and players traveled to Florida for a funeral a few days ago? Rumour is the presser is to announce to protocols and penalties for not following protocols.

Yep. You get $100k if you test positive. Now they’ll only pay out if you follow protocols. Also increased testing (orly finally).

This still will have very little impact because you have too many players flying from city to city and staying in different hotels and eating at a variety of places. And God knows how many other players/people have it now.

This was all avoidable. But they wanted to go from Texas to South Carolina to Hartford to Detroit and then wherever week after week after week. To film a tv show that could have been shot anywhere in the country.

I don’t think we will be able to judge it all completely until the end of year. Let’s see how everyone bounces back health wise (as well as their golf game).

I gotta think Tiger (and his doctor) is seriously questioning any return soon. Especially the Memorial with thousands of fans.

Currently as it stands, the PGA gets a big fat ‘F’.

Multiple rumors going around that they’re going to suspend the season indefinitely today. Connecticut just announced a 14-day quarantine from people traveling from South Carolina.

NEW YORK (AP) – Officials say New York, Connecticut and New Jersey will require visitors from states with high infection rates to quarantine for 14 days.***

I personally think they will continue. Maybe. I’m sure the players and their families are starting to get pretty apprehensive.

Well I have often said that I've never seen anyone admit they were wrong on social media. But I'm going to admit it, I was wrong and golfnutt was right. The PGA plan was obviously half-baked. The travel aspect could have been avoided and much more of a bubble around players could have been created. People would have watched regardless of the courses they played on.

I suspect they may bag the rest of the season. Same with NBA MLB and NFL for that matter. It's too bad, golf was the one sport where this could have worked if handled correctly.

Very kind of you. I do make plenty of mistakes.

They are going to continue this week but the Commish is seriously getting questioned if it is the right thing to do by the media and when/if they’ll suspend the season. He really doesn’t give much of an answer.

If this was any other sport it would be game over. They are able to slug along because there are hundreds of other capable players able to take their place without it diluting the product. Brooks Koepka though is a pretty big hit

The PGA Tour put themselves in this position. And they were spectacular unprepared.

They should have taken over Bandon Dunes like the NBA is planning with Disneyworld. At least to start. Instead they threw their players into a tizzy and you had McIlroy saying thing like you’ll play if you care about your career. Every golfer does. They also care about their health and family.

May we live in interesting times...
