The Fried Egg podcast said they looked at recent mid tournament WD's and they are up 400% post COVID. The suspicion is they aren't reporting all the cases.

Are they really? The only one I remember off the top of my head is DJ. Huh.

The Workday Charity Open had like 5, IIRC. But that was weather related. A few guys who were guaranteed to miss the cut didn't want to spend the night and come back in the morning for 2 holes. Hubbard was one. There were others.

That explains some, but not others.

Scottie Scheffler out of the USO due to a positive covid test. Damn I was really looking forward to how he backed up his PGAC performance in his next major.

Bummer for Scheffler, says he's asymptomatic so hopefully he'll be back in a few weeks.

This thread has become more active lately...as our cases in the US. Seems like everyone let their guard down.

With that in mind, they chose to crisscross the country and do no testing. Virtually ensuring multiple members would get the virus.

Every other sports league is trying to avoid travel at all costs and will institute strict testing.

The PGA does whatever they want. They don’t care at all. The position they find themselves was avoidable.

Let’s see how the players and caddies come back.

so we gave up back in June AND are letting our guard down now? Impressive.

And I'm sure we can expect you to be more active with more covid cases? lucky us.

The PGA Tour is facing a new COVID-19 outbreak, just one week after the rescheduled Masters tournament.

Three golfers — Kramer Hickok, Henrik Norlander and Bill Haas — all withdrew from the RSM Classic this week at Sea Island in Georgia after testing positive for the coronavirus.

It should be noted that there have been no reports that Vijay withdrew because of Covid.

I guess the plan here is to throw all WD’s against the Covid wall and see how many stick.

"The PGA Tour is facing a new COVID-19 outbreak, just one week after the rescheduled Masters tournament."

That's some impressive writing. I'm too lazy to check but were any of those three anywhere near Augusta last week?

On the flip side I haven't noticed anything suggesting that DJ won because he got the coronavirus and survived. Given the general idiocy surrounding covid I half expected that take to pop up from somewhere.

No. I said maybe. Vijay Singh withdrew because of illness. Of course during a pandemic people are going to assume it’s possible.
