we also found out our group is one of the longest continuously returning groups since the first course opened (not really surprising since we have a few guys that have literally played a couple hundred rounds on property). because we've been around so long they will give us first right of refusal for tee times on the new course when it opens

our group organizer reached out to us yesterday and we're confirmed for opening day.
of course the opening day has not yet been defined but i don't care...everything else in my life will take a back seat.

That’s awesome. I think I read there may be some preview play this fall... if so I’ll look into that during my oct. 31 to nov. 4th trip

not sure how many spots we'll get (we typically travel with 24) but i'll let you know if something opens up. never hurts to ask, right?

Ended up just booking another round at the resort. Playing in Bend then making the drive after didn't look good to me. Playing Pacific Dunes @ 10:10a then am on Bandon Dunes @ 3p. Will get 9 in for sure, rest is a bonus.

honestly don't blame you, especially if it means playing Pacific twice.
and golf in Bend is worthy of a longer stay and playing more courses...lots of great golf in central oregon.

6 weeks out and prep is already underway.

- Started walking a few rounds in the Florida heat.
- Check the Bandon webcams daily.
- Re-read all of the Bandon threads on WRX.

Next on the list is to look shot by shot on their website.

On a side note, figuring this would be a good spot to ask.

1. Is it fairly easy to get a caddy if I'm feeling like **** after a given day. Like tell them at 5pm that I will need one for my 1pm 2nd round of the day the next day?

2. On a completely different tangent, anyone have comments on Sunriver Resort in Bend? Am Tour finals are there next September.

i'm pretty sure you could get a caddie that quickly, although i've never tried.

Sunriver is the best golf resort in central oregon. Crosswater is a top 10 oregon course designed by Bob Cupp and you can only get on if you stay at the resort (unless you're a member). it used to host a leg of the Sr. Tour (was called the Jeld-wen tradition at the time). Meadows (John Fought) and Woodlands (Robert Trent Jones, Jr) aren't to the same caliber but still fun plays. Caldera Links is a 9 hole Cupp course i haven't played. i think it also requires a resort stay to play.

Yeah; lots of caddies available even day of. The caddies without a job assigned to them who want to work go in and put themselves on a free agent list and the caddie master/assistants dish out jobs as day of requests come in.

Nice; I'm going out next summer for the US Am; rented a beach house with the fam.

They'll be using Bandon & Trails iirc so I'll definitely find time to get out on the Sheep Ranch

How amazing of a place is Bandon that they can use any rotation of courses for USGA events? The fourball this summer used Pacific and Old Mac. PLUS you can stay open for guest play too.

Yeah that is pretty legit. I haven't heard if they're going to us both Trails and Bandon for the 36 hole final like they did for 2018 at Pinehurst. That would be sick as I want to see Trails on TV but if the match ends before getting to 16 Bandon we'll all be worse off. Although many matches in the rounds before the final will of course get through 16.

turns out we won't be playing the Sheep Ranch opening day after all due to other conflicts by the majority of participants, but we will play 3 rounds in 2 days June 16-17.
