Ivanovic, 22, met Scott, 28, on the Sunshine Coast last January and they were photographed together on the beach at Noosa. Scott this year put in an order for a $75 million luxury Gulfstream G450 jet to help him tour the globe. He is expected to stay on in the UK for the British Open at Turnberry in Scotland, from July 16.

i knew he and ana were an item......... just shocked he's buying a $75MM plane. do pga guys make that much money?? i realize it would be financed but you have to make $20-$30MM per year for the next 15 years to make it a reasonable purchase.

thanks in advance!!!

wow wtf...guess hes getting some sick sponsorship money because he sure as hell isn't coming anywhere near $20 million a year just from playing

I think newspapers often misrepresent these types of celebrity purchases by a lot. It seems very unlikely Adam Scott would be purchasing a 75MM plane based on his tour winnings, but I could be underestimating the amount of sponsorship dollars a top tour pro makes.

He's probably just renting it...

I know from some mutual friends I have of his that he bought it as an investment as they can't/couldn't make enough of them to satisfy demand. I know....it sounds like WTF, but that is WHY he bought it.

With what has gone on lately I'm not sure it was such a good investment.

A bit steep just to join the mile high club, but I guess that the wee Ana would be worth it

i was listening to ESPN radio yesterday and thy were talking about endorsement dollars for golfers.. i believe jim furyk made $11MM in endorsements alone last year, i would have to guess adam scott makes at least half of that. not to mention his winnings from golf. but still, $75mm seems like too much.

Top 50 highest paid American athletes:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mor...009/index.html

"Tiger earned $99,737,626 between winnings, bonuses and endorsements in 2008. With his on-course gambling winnings- you'd think he probably cracked $100M. Not a bad year, but actually down from the year before.

Phil on the other hand made a puny $52,950,356, still good for second on the list by over $10M.

To give you some perspective on the rest of the top 10:

3. LeBron James - $42,410,581
4. Alex Rodriguez - $39,000,000
5. Shaquille O'Neal - $35,000,000
6. Kevin Garnett - $34,750,000
7. Kobe Bryant - $31,262,500
8. Allen Iverson - $28,937,500
9. Derek Jeter - $28,500,000
10. Peyton Manning - $27,000,000" -- from here: http://www.oobgolf.com/content/fore+...ghly_Paid.html

More on this please. Do you think Phil Ivey would want to gamble it up with Tiger on the golf course the way Andy Beal wanted to play against the best on the felt ?

I for one don't think Tiger bets that much on the course. He often plays practice rounds alone, the round he played with the SA guy before the US Open, I doubt that he bet even a cent.

He plays in the 'ryder cup' club match and there there might be a bet or two.

Not that I think Tiger is 'above' betting, just that the way he handles himself, he do not seem to get into too many situations where betting would be natural.

Tiger is known to bet with guys like Smoltz and Jordan, probably does it more in the off season. I wouldn't be surprised if he got some action off Romo at this week's pro-am

I realize that Tiger offers them strokes, or they play from different tees, or something.

But how big of a freaking degen would you have to be to bet big $ against Tiger Woods?

Smoltz has taken him to the cleaners a few times. Tiger told a story somewhere of Smoltz shooting 66 when Tiger was giving him 2/3 a side.

The investment with the airplane was along the line of it holds its' value well due to them making so few of them.....you can rent it out when you're not using it.

Apparently Ernie Els did it years ago/ been doing it for years and that's how Adam got the idea.

Michael Jordan is one of the biggest degens in the world.

And since when does a G4 cost 75mm? I thought G5's were around 45-50mm.

I heard a few years ago at the British Open that Tiger and Calc played a $2000 match at their practice round, first one to make a bogey loses. A source told me that if a bogey is made, they usually re-bet for the remaining holes. Sounded interesting.

i used to say this all the time and still do think that most athletes are "over paid" But after taking an economics in sports class in college I came to realize how under paid athletes are for how much revenue they bring in.

We did a specific study on Michael Jordan and in the last 2-3 years of his career with the bulls before he retired for the first time just about every game he played was sold out. According to a lot of economist estimates Jordan was worth about $30-40 million to the NBA and the Bulls were only paying him about $4 million.

Standard price is <$50m. Different options, upgrades, interior work, etc... can take it much higher. If he can actually keep it rented out while he's not using it, it may not be a bad investment. He's competing with NetJets, though. Backlog is like 4-5 years on production. I'm surprised he can get financing, honestly.

The latest issue of Golf mag has an article about Scott, and it says he's made $650k in earnings in 2009 thus far, and his career earnings are ~19 million. I would think he could rent/lease a private jet.
