I used to play that tour and played that event at that course more than once. It's not overly long or difficult, the wind is the best defense. The wind was not blowing the first two days and the cut was 6-under. #2 used to be a par 5 when I played it, they played it as a par 4 this year. Then the 3rd(last) round the wind blew and only 15 of 60 players who made the cut broke par.

Next month there's an event at a very short course where guys always go deep. With good weather don't be surprised if someone else goes sub 60.

how much difference do you think playing lift clean & place can have on a score like that? (that's how they were playing that round).

Assuming it was in the closely mown areas only, a lot of it depends on how good the fairways are.

If the fairways are really good, there is almost no difference playing the ball up in wet conditions compared to playing it down in dry conditions. Obviously there's a big difference playing it up in wet conditions compared to playing it down it wet conditions because of water between the ball and the clubface in addition to mud balls.

If the fairways aren't very good to begin with, it's a pretty big difference. instead of a tight scruffy lie on crap grass you can find a little cushy tuft where you can pretty much do anything you want.

My guess on that course this time of year is that it made a couple of strokes difference. There are some holes I remember that were tough to grow good grass on because of trees or proximity to a creek or whatever.

would you say topography, hydrology, and agronomy are the three primary variables contributing to the quality of lie? atmospheric conditions quickly come in to play once the ball is airborne, but as the ball lies (assuming a consistent swing) i can't think of another variable that would have more influence than any of those three.

Blocked his 3w way right short sided - decent pitch leaves around 10 feet for 60

Welp not quite... birdied the last for a 12-under 60.

Crazy even lost a drive left on #8, took a penalty drop and ended up with a bogey. 9 birdies and 2 eagles. Carded a 28 on the back.

Interesting fact I learned via Twitter... Munoz shot 60 at the RSM in November, making him the first player to shoot 60 twice in the same season

This is the first anticipatory post ever I think..

If I'm reading everything properly, korn ferry is playing par 72, 6200 yard course in (high altitude) Bogota, Columbia tomorrow...

Also playing 7200 yard course (2 courses thurs-fri) so maybe it's just misprint

Wonder if they played there last year

his single bogey, on a par 3, was a thing of beauty
didn't touch the green until his fourth stroke

And parred the last three holes.

Course is 62xx yards at 8000 feet which makes it play 5500 or so. A 57 is a 57 and that's amazing, but it's not something I'm making too big of a deal out of.

Why would the KFT be playing on such a Mickey Mouse course like that anyway? Maybe if it was PGA Tour Latinoamérica, I could see it.
