Some guy named Tom Lewis shot a 28 on the back nine (his first nine) and then birdied 1,2 & 3 on the front. 10 under with 6 holes to play on a 71 par in the Denmark stop on the European tour. All the guys are going low. Two scores of 62 allready in the clubhouse.

James Love with a 59 in stage 1 Web.com qualifying in Utah.... pretty low scores at that location. EDIT: low scores yes, but 5 strokes clear of field which is most i've ever seen.

does this count in the clearinghouse of record 59's? or are there so many now when you add in all competition - longer than 6500 yards - that it's irrelevent.

says denver, colorado but i think he may be vancouver, canada golfer........ lots of canadian golfers register under USA address if they can - or they've recently moved

I found an article that said he's from Calgary but has been playing as a pro out of Denver since 2007. Denver seems like a weird choice for a tour pro. I'm not sure why he wouldn't do the Florida, Arizona or Texas thing.

thx...... western canada at least.

i think alot of canadian players take advantage of family ties and make that relatives city their USA base at least for mail and registration. or it tie into where they went to USA college. like i think delaet - saskatchewan boy - may live in boise, idaho now.

wow that's tough.

that john chin from temecula i think is a mini-tour warrior - i.e. won alot with really low scores. i read about him when i was researching golf courses in that area/

So someone just shot 59 whose top two featured videos on google are him breaking his putter on his head and flailing in water at the Prssidents Cup.

Cool.

Yes - in the first round of the same tournament. He then made the record for the lowest 36 hole score on the PGA, and then tied for the lowest 54 hole score yesterday.

Of the 42 rounds of 60 or better in PGATour history, 18 have occurred since 2010.

Yeah guys are hitting it so much longer it just makes sense that 59s will get less rare. So many more legit eagle and short birdie putts.

JT is on quite a run though, demolishing top competition 2 weeks in a row.

i have the TV on....... at first i thought the chance for 59 was a replay of JT on friday........ kisner's putt was pretty makeable and he thought he made it.

is this hawaiian course pretty short by modern pga standards? fairly tight though, definitely NOT a vacation course.

was JT the first 59 at this tourney?

i think so................ palm springs and deere have been big low score courses i think - not sure which courses in palm springs as they may have changed. maybe memphis too

is charles howell III the poster child for how much $$$ there is on pga tour? probably a mega-mililonaire even though hasn't won that much.

juxta-position with #200 tennis player in the world being dirt poor.

Course was designed as a par 72 many many years ago (originally the 1920s). On the card today it's a par 70 and realistically it's par 69 or even 68, the two par 5s left are averaging 4.2 and 4.4 this year. Just over 7000 yards and no room around the course to lengthen it appreciably.
