Justin Thomas/Spieth took on Rahm/Mickelson today in the practice round with an 18 hole match-play competition. Thomas makes a greenside bunker shot on #15 to put him and Spieth 3U. Rahm hits an unreal approach from the goarse to win #16 and go 2D. Rahm hits another sweet approach on #17 to cut the lead to 1D. Both teams par #18.

I'll be looking to see some of this kind of stuff tomorrow. Just packed my rucksack ready for a 7:15am pickup - should be there an hour later hopefully!

they were talking about it this AM on Live From. forgot which major it was. they did it b/c a merchandise area was nearby. you might be able to catch a replay of it.

Thought they said there was an in course OB at The Open Championship a few years back because of the driving range. Wouldn't have been at The Old Course or Troon, so at least back to 2014. Possible the U.S. Open or PGA would have had an in course OB in that span, but somewhat doubtful.

I am not even sure I would consider driving OB as internal ob since it is pretty standard.

It was at Royal Liverpool in 2014 because they put all the corporate tents and a pretty sweet hangout spot with a giant tv screen and bean bag cushion/chairs sort of right in the middle of the course. I only recall because the wife and I went and chilled in that area for a bit on one of the days we were there.

I assume most of these players have to pay their own way. Why would some of these players even bother going?

Dude, it's the Open Championship. Almost anyone who gets in is going to be there.

I was referring to guys like Mark O'Meara and John Daly. What's the point? They are just losing money going all the way there to not even make the cut.

losing money? both these guys have sponsorship deals. having exposure at a major makes your sponsorship deals more lucrative. therefore, get on a motorized machine that flies you over the ocean and play in said major. pretty simple really.

Lol. How much do you think someone would pay to play in the open championship? Do they even pay for a room? Daly was +4? Not exactly drawing dead.

Mark O'Meara has made the cut the past two years at The Open.

Suggest stop digging now.

Every player has to pay an entry fee for The Open. And every player has to pay his own travel and housing expense as well.

Entry fee is 150 euros? Not exactly breaking the bank.

It's funny that the entry is less than for a mini tour event.
