top 5 win the fedex cup with a win. Others need to win or and have top players finish below certain places. I would guess its theoretically possible for someone outside the top 5 to not win and still win the FedEx Cup, but it would require a very weird finishing order where Spieth and JT are almost last and said player is like 6th or 7th and finished second with the winner being someone in the 25-30 range. Not sure if that's possible but its beyond the realm of reasonable.

The further down in the rankings the winner is the more they need Spieth and the others at the top to finish lower.

Bill Haas went to Atlanta in 25th place in 2011 and ended up winning the 10M. The rules have been tweeked since then to make it even more improbable for someone that far back to win it all.

Looking at Wikipedia, Haas barely eged out Webb Simpson when he won, only because Webb finished 22nd. Probably something like if Webb had finished 21st, he takes it home.

Webb would actually win the FedEx cup if the tournament ended as it currently stands... hopefully doesn't happen, guy hasn't even won a single tournament this year. All about timing I guess.

To win the cup you just need God on your side.

Anyone see that great Kisner chip-in? There was a ball about a foot from the hole that no one bothered to mark and pick up...wonder why they left it there...

On the subject of marking, why don't they use those nifty thin markers, about the diameter of a dime, except much thinner, and with a spike on the end. In the off chance that someone does actually roll their ball over the marker, that would be much better than if it had rolled over a quarter. Afraid someone will be emboldened not to move if off of someone's line, because it just works THAT good? lol

Why don't you use brush tees too while you're at it?

Great tournament, Xander really impressive. Have to laugh at Dan Hicks continually trying to hype up the race between JT and Spieth for the FedEx cup though - which millionaire will win more millions? It's all monopoly money to these guys at this point.

I am always losing markers and tees because I have a small towel in the same right hand pocket and flip them out when I use the towel to clean my ball.

I start every round with 2 5ps and 2 10ps and mark short puts with the 5 and longer ones with the 10 so I can see them better when I get back to the green.

Costs 30p for a decent set of markers.

A couple of years ago I told a (plastic disc) guy who insisted on using 'proper' ball markers that they had a sale on in the shop, 2 for 10p.

He wasn't happy when I said he had to change a 10p for 2 5ps!

Did you ever think about not keeping a towel in your pocket?

Doesn't walking around with a towel in your pocket look silly?

It's actually a face flannel, so no bigger than a handkerchief. It's for cleaning balls and stuff. I hope that clears it up.

Also - congrats on the three guys above on totally missing the point that using small regular coins are cheaper than using plastic markers.
