Pretty good tournament going. The FedEx Cup does a good job of keeping the end of the season interesting.

Had Charley remained in the top 10 in the President's Cup standings, Chappell would have been a guaranteed pick. With their flip flop I still think Charley gets the pick along with Phil. Too much gap between 11th and 12th. Don't really think any of the other guys inside the top 20 have much going for them at present. Moore just not playing well enough after his nice play as a captain's pick at last year's Ryder Cup.

Last year I wagered someone on this forum $100 that JT would win more prize money than Spieth during the year... was one year early I guess (although it's really close, Spieth may still pull it out).

Side note, at the time of the wager, a forum member (named ARod's Cousin I think) actually sent me a profanity-laden pm to tell me what a ******/idiot/moron I was for thinking Thomas was even in Spieth's league. Weird to send a complete stranger an angry pm like that out of the blue. Guess he's a big Jordan fan.

it was me.

JT is only up about $82k right now in earnings so it will basically come down to who finishes higher these last two events.

Still think Spieth is clearly a better player though JT is obviously elite.

Sergio's tirade/broken putter very well could cost him a spot in Atlanta (he moved from #30 to #34).

Would have been a more fun wager this year either way!

I actually agree Spieth is better. Not by much, but maybe mentally and consistency-wise. I still love JTs game but I definitely underestimated Spieth, thought everything just went right for him in 2015 but he has the total package. JT might look more impressive when he's on, Spieth is more clinical.

Need to find a good still frame of that debacle and I might consider replacing my current sergio profile pic.

18th defines Rickie's golfing career. Goes for driver off the deck. Flubs the chip and misses the putt. Need a birdie on a reachable par 5 to get top 5 and fails.

I honestly can't figure out how Sergio got a drop. Even if he was going to do the ricochet shot the rock was going to stop his club so no actual through swing into a TIO was possible.

Curious to see what ntBo has to say about it.

I have to agree because I remember thinking that if he does try the shot, he's gonna have to swing with enough pace to get a strong enough ricochet, but not so much pace that he injures his wrists when he hits the rock.

One of the announcers said that Sergio might have been saying that the handle of his club would be interfered with on the swing by the barrier.

I don't even know if that makes it better or worse. I do know that this passed Phil's sprinkler head in the middle of a bush down in Mexico.

After examining his lie Sergio thought he could perhaps hit the ball backwards off a rock and towards the green. Apparently if he attempted this the grandstand would have interfered with his swing. Therefore he was granted free relief although he had to drop within the hazard. Naturally you then drop in a place where the ball would kick closer to the hole twice and then get to place it atop a flat rock where the ball would actually remain still. From there you can actually scrub one over the hazard towards the green.

Another example of using the rules to your advantage. Although one does have to wonder if he would ever have attempted the rock ricochet had he not been granted relief.

I think it's great the PGA Tour honors Payne Stewart, and I'm happy to see Stewart Cink win the award, but I really think they should consider not giving the award every year.

lazy question... this will save me 10 minutes of googling...

how many players are in complete control of their destiny? how many are close? i realize the 2nd question is subjective.

seems strange to me that they seem to playing order of reverse season-long standings on thursday... hadn't thought alot about it but it did make sense they'll do it on sunday.

If anyone ranked in the top 5 going into this week wins, they win it all.
