Rickie has played in two Ryder Cups, guess how many matches he's won? Zero. None. Nada. Zilch. His record is 0-3-5. And he was 1-3-0 in last year's President's Cup. That's one match won in twelve attempts. And you want this guy on your team?

Additionally, his major record the last two years has been pretty poor also. I think eventually he win start winning, but currently he is all style and no substance.

J.B. Holmes on the other hand has played one Ryder Cup with a 2-0-1 record. And one President's Cup with a 2-2-1 record. Much better than Rickie. He's also got four wins to Rickie's three.

Give me some pricks on the team like Daniel Berger who don't have any scar tissue and will kick the Euros in the nuts if necessary to win.

Naturally the benevolent DL3 will make the standard picks taking Bubba and Rickie, etc, but that's why the U.S. continues to lose.

Yep good start to his career, not been around too long and had an injury plagued year this year. Disappointing as a Euro if Luke gets the pick ahead of him. Haha at Reed's face in the vid, he's my fav US golfer (except Tiger maybe) so not all Euro's hate him

Just caught the final round of the Barclays on tape today. Did anyone else catch Peter Kostis call Patrick Reed a cheater on the 13th hole?

He basically said he improved his lie in the rough by placing an iron behind the ball 4 or 5 times before taking out a wood. He even said, the lie he originally had wouldn't have allowed for a wood to be played.

I thought it was a pretty bold indictment and was surprised to not see more about it here.

First I'm hearing this (didn't watch and haven't seen an article on this). Maybe this is what loK2thabrain was referring to.

I'd expect this to be huge news. Curious if anybody has more on this.

Doesn't seem to have picked up any traction.

Can't disagree with any of this. Especially the last sentence. The US Ryder Cup team reminds of when Dr Evil thought about something new and then just ends up going "oh hell, lets just do what we always do....".

didn't watch that much but heard it to. The way he described the "original lie" did seem like a pretty odd phrasing to me as well.

I'm busy not caring

re: Ryder Cup stuff

I'm not in the industry anymore and I only get glimpses into what the average country club member thinks of today's golf, but does anyone actually care if we win or lose? Don't people just want to see the players they are familiar with (and thus, doesn't it fall on the captain to choose accordingly to keep the ratings up?)?

(disclaimer: I'd be okay not having captains picks at all and just using some sort of fair and transparent numbers driven system in place)

We care about it for about a week every other year. A week after the matches everyone forgets.

Give me 4 of the following 5 as captain's picks.

J.B. Holmes (10) - beat brain cancer, not scared of anything, on the last U.S. winning team
Scott Piercy (13) - won $2 million in a winner take all tournament long before getting his card
Daniel Berger (16) - huge prick with game and a hot slutty girlfriend
Justin Thomas (25) - another young gun with power to burn and fearless
Billy Horschel (27) - another huge prick with big balls, former FedEx Cup winner

Would be shocked if DL3 doesn't take Rickie because he's EXCITING and he won that tournament once

Captain Clarke picks Westy, Kaymer, and Pieters. I'd be happy with this if I were a EUR fan.

BO why do you think Berger is a prick? Kinda weak sauce to throw that out there with no backstory

I agree with you on JB and Rickie btw. Didn't JB beat Spieth in a playoff last year too?

Berger has to be a cuck. At the very least his girl ****s him with a strap.

I was going to try to defend Fowler but yea indefensible shouldn't be on the team.

Stories from guys that have played with him in the last few years.

But as I've said, in the Ryder Cup, I'd rather have a bunch of cocky pricks on my side than a bunch of nice guys.

is this patrick reed "cheating" story out there? i realize OP said not much traction so far.

i think the announcers mention it............ did reed mention his "original lie"?

this is an old gary player trick, i believe....

i realize in this case he may just be moving the grass behind the ball, but it shocks me that there are never penalties on moving the ball in the rough by accident..... i've had practice swings move the ball from a long way away - i realize that's not necessarily a penalty. my point is that the ball moves so easy when it's sitting high up in the rough.
