Broadcast mentioning (a lot) his switch to a 46” driver. Hitting it even farther!

Has rickie switched back after going to a shorter (43.5” perhaps?) driver a few years back?

First week in a while (when he’s played) I haven’t put a bet on him. Even worse, I went heavy on Max, who missed the cut.

Go Will!

Didn't see much in the way of highlights but will watch today. I did see he missed a shortie on the par 5 12th I think yesterday? Wasn't particularly pretty.

Will left two putts short by one or two revolutions of the ball.

Tough ending. Putt on 72nd broke a half cup in that last inch or so.

Hope it is the start of a big year.

Unfortunately that was because he didn't want a 2 or 3 footer back.

Watched him for the last 3 days and was hoping that wouldn't be what would cost him his first win.

It's not that he doesn't want the 2-3' comeback putt, it's that FOR HIM, he optimizes his make rates with dead weight speed. Obviously that putt wasn't hit quite hard enough, but that is a slow putt coming up that hill. His distribution should be anywhere from where he hit that one to about 2' past. He should never hit that putt 3' past to optimize his make rates strokes to hole out.

I'll ask him...when I think the coast is clear to not get punched in the face...if he should have let his last glance be about 12" past the hole to help him have a little longer stroke. A great trick for fast or slow putts is to change where you are letting your eyes triangulate to in order to let your stroke be a tad longer or shorter than a dead flat putt of the same length. Looking short of the hole is a GREAT WAY to shorten your stroke and hit what feels like an aggressive putt instead of a little longer stroke that internally you know you need to decelerate on a bit.

It's a tough call for sure though.

I really hope he gets past this - for the past few years I have been watching him whenever I can since I read the threads about him (and you) on here.

When I watch a PGA competition, I use the colour-coding to highlight the players I like to watch on their site. One for Europe and ROW, one for USA, and one for Will.

I just read he was now out with covid - gl to him when he returns!
