Rough patch with the putter mid round yesterday. Striped it all day again and made a few nice 6' putts in the last 6 holes to right the ship.

Couple interesting possible pairings for us today. Zach Olsen (player who beat us in round of 16 last year) is in the range that we might face as is Cole Hammer the 15 year old that played in the U.S. Open. Last year's champ Gunn Yang is as well. Play resumes in half an hour then they will set the pairings for today.

More importantly, our favorite electricity man has a bright future in caddying. Can't wait for a couple of major wins he will take half credit for.

Putting is a fickle bitch at times. Also caught two tough breaks with great shots that ended up 10 feet instead of stone dead.

The one that hit the pin was brutal.

He just didn't play too good on the back nine. With as windy as it was there is just no room for error. He didn't take advantage of the good drives and the bad ones were in terrible shape.

I'll update later.

It came down to the last hole at the Rod Myers Invitational, and Will Zalatoris came through.

The star sophomore at Wake Forest birdied the 455-yard par-4 18th at The Duke Golf Club to give the Demon Deacons a one-shot victory over the host Blue Devils. No. 22 Wake Forest finished with a 2-under 862 (288-279-295) to No. 41 Duke's 1-under 863 (286-282-295). That final red score also meant the individual title for Zalatoris, the second of his college career, as his 8-under total edged out Duke's Adam Wood by a stroke.

I don't think they allow people to have caddies at the college events but I thought ship was doing some stuff with the entire team so maybe he was there. Either way it won't be long till this kid is playing in majors from the looks of it.

He should have been in your Walker Cup team. Guessing the appendicitis made the pick difficult?

I worked with Duke's team the week before this event which made it pretty fun to follow along. I'm always pulling for Will and the Deacs, but I would have enjoyed watching Duke win as well. They set the pins up very tough for the final round and it was a tad windy. I'm pretty sure 71 was low, maybe one 70. Will has now won about 5 of his last 20 or so starts. Pretty awesome!

He switched to a Kuchar style of putting at the U.S. Am. If that keeps improving it's going to be a fun decade or two for him for sure.

He probably could have been, but it would have been a tough pick for Spider after Will missed most of the summer. His ranking dropped to a point where he had to win the U.S. Am to get a spot. At the end of the day there just aren't enough spots since we give two to mid-ams. I believe the USGA is simply trying to groom future captains to have been former Walker Cup team members. Seems silly to field a worse team now just to have playing captains down the road.

Whatever.

I'm trying to work on my game, but with my current schedule being full of colleges to work with I'm not getting out much. I hope to change that over the next two weeks and put together some sort of game for the U.S. Mid-Am.

We will see.
