Yeah, but you have to keep in mind it was the US Junior so there weren't any 480-500 yard par 4's. Will was certainly the longest kid in the field there, but I am expecting to see some absolute bombers next week in Atlanta.

Also, when you hit 9 iron 165 and driver 330 you rarely have much more than that anyway!

awesome thread I only just now found and read straight through..

GL this week, will be following closely.

I especially appreciate reading the technical analysis and data-driven "in real time" (your thoughts on certain shots after the fact obviously but spoken as if you were still in the moment) caddie comments. I made a crude golf model last year based on some of what you mentioned.

did I miss it, or did you purposely avoid the question on what odds you'd need for him to ship a major within 10 years?

anyway, most interesting thread I've read in the golf forum, he'll maybe ever.

really looking forward to see how you and the kid move forward with others being as long as him.

only question for now: as far as experience and being a "good caddy", do most of the other amateurs have someone as good as you?

reading, I had to imagine that you're a pretty big advantage to him, especially early on until he started to see your point of view.

to a 17-year old kid, how many shots is a pga-tour level caddy worth to them as opposed to like, their dad or something

I really wouldn't have a clue the odds....very long shot

I don't think others have anything quite like me. I'm a bit of an odd person in that I say exactly what I'm thinking. It helps me in some spots in life and hurts me in others. I really think as a caddie it helps me a ton. I give my honest unfiltered opinion on everything. I don't think most people have the balls to do that in this arena.

I do believe I've been a huge edge for him. I've been in the heat of battle and know all the crazy **** competitors are thinking. So I can address the demons in his head without his even knowing what I'm doing. Keeping him in the present moment and not drifting away to thoughts of winning or making the finals for the Masters invite is the single most important thing I can do for him....aside from strategy obviously.

So having a feel for his interval rhythm and seeing when he's changing pace and casually addressing it is huge.

I made him memorize the beat to Time from Inception prior to te state am simply to have him have a reference point to slow himself down as need be.

Also, it becomes very easy to make poor decisions as your thought process quickens. I will say he made some terribad club selections in the junior finals that I obviously corrected prior to the shot being hit. If he had his dad or a buddy on the bag I doubt they would be skilled enough to speak up and tell him that's the wrong club.

Shoot, it's honestly one of the harder things I've done in life. Knowing how bad he wants it the last thing I would want to do is directly mess it up. So having the balls to change his club down one with a pin just over a lake is really hard. Can't imagine watching him flush my club right at it and come up short in a lake.

Luckily that hasn't happened yet!

I was thinking about it and without rereading this thread I do want to make one point.

Obviously Will is hitting every shot. I fully recognize he is one of the best players in the world and all I've done is make him both believe that and play like that. It's not like I'm getting him to do something he's not capable of, again, obviously.

That's what a good caddie does, squeeze every ounce of value possible out of his player.

I'll be better today about tweetingn some pics from the practice round.

Flu and strep negative so it's just a nasty virus.

I'm pretty healthy in general and rarely get sick. This might be the worst I've ever felt. Fingers crossed for a rally over next 15 hours!

I appreciate your concern Spenda!

I agree with sack up, but I'm telling ya there was no way from a pain/contagious stand point I could go with how I felt yesterday.

That said, I feel ok today sickness wise so I'll be there. I'm pretty sore from shivering and grinding my teeth for 24 hours but I'll be fine.

The group in front of us in the practice round I looped had a kid that was hitting it 350+ with little or no roll. Every single marshal that day came over to tell us where he had hit it. Some were literally 60 yards past where we were. I honestly wouldn't have believed it had it not for being able to see his divots.

Gogogogogo semi-big-league these kids all bomb it!

He actually missed a 4' birdie putt on #9 (actual 18) and his scorer messed that up. 69 is correct.

He played well. Front nine was a little nervy and out if sync but he played really well on back. Highlight was 6 iron from 212 to a foot on the par three #6.

More later. Nap time now.
