Funny story - I was signing my card after the first 18 holes of a US Am Qualifier and I hear Scott's voice.

I assume someone left their Decade app on full volume on accident and think to myself "oh that's embarrassing- hopefully they turn it off before this group tees off on 10" - the 10th tee is about 50 yards right of our tent.

Turns out it WAS Scott about to start his day on 10.

Would have introduced myself and wished you luck had you not been about to tee off. Saw you played pretty solid over the two days.

Any strategy stuff jump out to you at Meadowbrook? #4 tee shot was the closest decision I had to make after the practice round.

Very good story.

And I see the old man traveled to a site where he didn't have to play 36 holes in one day. Wisdom.

LOL! You should have said hi! I like the course and love the tree removal they did. Just thinned it out perfectly to still be "trees" but also give you some sort of chance on a few holes.

After the heat stroke I had during the afternoon round at Castle Hills in 2017 I've gone there each year I've tried. I just have no chance on a 36 hole day in that heat. I'm doing 1st Stage of Champions Tour Q School at Soboba in Cali. Are you going?

To have my name at the top with my cute little (a) while playing a bunch of 20-somethings I've worked with was a very cool day for sure! It was weird because I birdied like 3 of the last 4 so it happened late and fast so I never had a chance to think about leading or anything because I never would have thought 64 would be low.

Thanks! RE: the second round it was odd. I hit did everything awful. I don't think it was nerves, just bad golf. What's funny is the first round I felt like I left 3 easy shots out there and managed 64, but the flip side is the 72 absolutely could not have been a single shot lower! Golf is so weird.

I use it daily when I'm warming up just to lengthen the swing and loosen up. For speed training I just use their protocols which are what you would expect...swing this as fast as you can. It has definitely helped.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through the "How to Prepare For a Big Event" video on the Decade app. It inspired some different ideas, so I'm going to work through them here.

I've always considered myself above average or better mentally. I like the concept of Dr. Larson's mental scorecard, but I've very rarely dipped under 95% for any substantial period of time. I don't waste shots by getting in my own way. If I recognize a negative thought, it's pretty easy to toss it aside and get back to the task at hand. So it's a metric that has rarely been a call to action.

After watching this video, I realize how much better I could be mentally, even if my "mental scorecard metric" stayed exactly the same:
  • I'm not a good green reader, even at maximum focus
  • Outside of yoga, I haven't gotten into meditation
  • I have not kept a golf journal
Each of those things is a skill that can be developed and worked into a routine. I'm grateful to have found Tour Read Golf via Scott because I didn't have a way to get feedback on my reads outside of dedicated time with my swing coach on the greens. The other two are much easier/simpler to invest time in. Happy to have things on the mental side that I can devote time to.

As I was reading this my first comment was going to be to look into Tour Read! The challenge with meditation is that it will feel completely pointless for a LONG time. You just need to stick with it and then when you're in real life be looking for times that your mental chatter is turning negative and the fall back on what your learning in your meditation sessions to hopefully completely drop the negative and recurring thoughts, or at a minimum, be able to attempt to laugh at them and not let them consume you.

Great work and I guarantee you that putting the effort in here like you are will produce results!
