Spieth obviously has the potential to win a lot of majors, but Rory already has 2 in the bag tho...

2 Junior ams is unprecedented except for Tiger, but Rory's feats are just more impressive.

He outclassed the best fields in golf in the biggest pressure events in a way that only Tiger and Nicklaus have done in recent memory.

In the US Open McIlroy’s 8 stroke margin of victory was the second biggest in the past 90 years, bettered only by Woods’s record 15-shot win at Pebble Beach in 2000. McIlroy’s performance at Congressional came at a time when only one of the previous 25 U.S. PGA Tour events was won by more than two strokes (it was a three-shot victory). Then his 8 stroke win at the PGA Championship was the largest margin of victory EVER in the tournament.

Jack Nicklaus one one Masters by 9, Palmer won 2 majors by 6 and Hogan won one by the same margin but none by 8, Nick Faldo won 2 by 5, Gary Player's biggest margin in a major was 4, same with Tom Watson and Lee Trevino

I think Spieth is awesome and hope he is as good or better than McIlroy because it will be awesome to watch if that happens but to take someone who has never finished top 20 in a major over someone with Rory's record is just way too much projection.

The problem is that Rory is downswonging and we know a lot of golfers can fall off the face of the planet and never fully recover when that happens.

Yeah some guys disappear but no one as accomplished as him has disappeared this young. And he's still #6 in the OWGR. Even if he plays as bad next year as he did this year he'll still be around 30th in the world. That's not exactly falling off the map.

Im a huge Spieth fan but the question is really dumb at the moment. I think it will be a much more interesting question after next year. Spieth had a fantastic year this year and Rory...well for lack of better words just straight sucked by his standards. Really curious to see how both do next year.

I get the impression that if Jordan won 2 majors, he wouldn't take the next season off. The kid just seems hungry.

What do you guys attribute Rory's lackluster season to? Club change, variance, lack of focus? To me it seems like he thinks he can get by on his natural talent.

Not caring about golf and caring too much about a singular pussy.

He got paid a fat endorsement check and had little incentive to actually produce a good year.

I think we can relate to Rory. Who would care that much about golf when you have singular pussy and enough cash to pay or attract multiple pussy.

Seriously though, all this is simply flipping a coin. I respect the top golf minds in the game, but even their opinion wouldn't matter on this question.

I agree with most of your posts, but not this one. I completely disagree that this is flipping a coin. I will take evens any day for Rory vs Spieth for any amount up to 5k

Edit: I realize I didn't actually write why I think it's not a coinflip, but if the betting sites were to put up odds on this, I highly doubt it would be evens

Lot going on for Rory off the course. A broken heart will kill his game

That's what's worrying the people who vote Jordan: The true greats (in any sport) also have huge endorsements and access to pussy. And they STILL have the hunger to be great again.

Plus, I think Rory is suffering because he's being compared to Tiger. "Tiger won a lot when he was young and still kept going." True, but Tiger is a twice in a century talent. Expecting Rory to have a similar career profile to young Tiger is expecting too much. We may never see another person with a career profile similar to Tiger.

meh. I think it was actually have a positive effect on his game. After he gets over her, or even if he isn't over her, the golf course will become a place where he can go to get away from all of that. Kid has loads of talent and i'm hoping he gets it together this year. Tiger, Spieth, Phil and Rory all at the top of their game could produce an awesome year.

it takes some effort to shoot a 61 and miss the cut.

Shades of Rod Pampling. And ironically enough Romero is probably best known for his antics at Carnoustie as well.

I wonder if Woz is going to ruin Rory the way Greg Norman's daughter messed up Sergio
10-19-2013 , 11:09 AM
Romero does seem to be one of the streakiest golfers on the tour

Ties the course record, shoots 20 shots worse next day. Standard.

Rory played on event on the OneAsia Tour this weekend.

70-69-75-67 to finish -3, one shot behind the winner.

BMW Masters and WGC-HSBC in the next couple weeks for him and a few other big name players.

Webb Simpson strolling to the win.

Someone alert the squawker.

I'm coming around on webb, never used to like him. Might have something to do with them showing his wife for a good few minutes there.

I went to the Shriners tourney yesterday and followed his group around for all 18 holes. Judging by his interactions with the fans and his playing partner, he seems like a genuinely nice guy and class act. And a hell of a golfer - I still can't believe a few of the shots he hit.

I'm happy to have Webb as champ for our city's lone PGA event.

It amazes me how few fans at this event. I remember going way back when Phil still played and seemed like more folks. Be a great vacation play a bit of golf, gamble and follow a few groups
