I'm surprised by how little comment there has been here about Norman's performance. This has the potential to be one of the all-time incredible performances in golf. More shocking than Jack at the Masters in '98 or '90, or Johnny Miller coming out of retirement to win at Pebble in '94 (non-major obv).

I'm with you, but usually a lot of Norman-not-quite-likers come out from under the woodwork and do a lot of talking about the big choker. But when he stands with the claret jug on sunday, people will be rejoicing.

Well for one thing it's WAY WAY too early to start sucking each other's dicks about Norman just yet. I too like most everyone would like to see him factoring in over the weekend but we're miles of road from Sunday. It's kind of a shame this isn't at one of the majors that he's blown or gotten bad beated on though, hasn't he won this twice?

One particularly impressive thing is how solid his game is if he really plays as infrequently as he says he does. In the Sr. US Open at Oak Hill he was very solid also, and that course was actually playing harder than this one.

Rocco still in the driver's seat.

Just change the poll to include Norman already like a good little boy and quit your bitching.

Greg Norman and David Duval final group?

ZOMG

Looks like the cut will probably be at +9. 70 golfers exactly are at +8 or better, and I don't see all of them holding there over the last few holes. Phil and Monty both just got to +8.

KJ Choi in the lead now at -1.

If Tiger was playing, then the cut would have been +5 imo.

When I turned on the TV and saw Duval on top of the leaderboard I had to make sure I wasn't watching ESPN Classic. Screw 2008, we're reliving 1998-1999 all over again baby.

Loving this leaderboard. I hope the weather doesn't play tooo much of a factor over the weekend.

Just want to throw in my 2 cents.

I think this tournament is great without Tiger. I am really excited to watch golf this weekend without having to see Tiger Woods pouting and pressing all the time - oh and pumping his fist. I am not a hater, just a golf fan enjoying the change of pace.

I was at a golf outing today and there was a discussion of which would be a more incredible golf story: Norman winning the Open or Tiger winning the US Open with injury. Many of these Tiger lovers were saying there was no way anyone could eclipse what Tiger did at the US Open. Blah.

How funny would it be if Norman ground out 36 workmanlike pars over the weekend to take home the jug? Keeping two-handed backhands on the court FTW.
