As far as the walk isn't it a good bit shorter from the normal tees and a big trek back the tips? That being said I though I read it was 9 miles to walk if you went down the middle of every hole. That is pretty long imo, especially at a walking only course. I think my home course is like 4.5 miles to walk which I do a lot of rounds. My body says **** off these days since I am a fat ass.

If I remember correctly I believe the average course is supposed to be around a 6 mile walk. So 9 miles is crazy.

I'm always amazed there are as many fat pro golfers as there are, with all those miles they walk every week.

Announcers kept talking about how easy it would play today with the overnight rain, but scores are pretty bad so far. Seems to be playing tougher than the first 2 days.

*super casual thought*

I mean, now you have a super long course where the ball doesn't move when it hits the ground. This might take a while.

The mix of up-and-coming players and established vets at the top of the leaderboard has me thinking that this tournament will not only give viewers the chance to see the PGA Tour's next Charley Hoffman, but Charley Hoffman as well.

who is elkington working for? is he just doing this on his own? stupid thing to say... i'm thinking now that the "bubba-elk feud" was battle of the idiots.

on that kid from texas a&m being so much longer than the longest pga pro,

1) i would guess he is longer but they must be comparing apples to oranges to suggest he's 20-25 yards longer than the longest pga player........ can't remember what the swing speed comp was. but again, there might be apples to oranges there too (dry air vs. normal air etc.)

2) is his launch angle really only 6.9%? we rewound to make sure we heard that correct............. personally i've never been a massive believer in the high launch angle theory, although that might be because i play with hackers. definitely at hacker level the low rope works really really well for distance.... of course they said he had an ungodly carry so it's not just tons of roll.. anyway, didn't make sense to me.. but of course they had kevin na putting for eagle on a par 3, so anything is possible.

i wasn't aware of the past weather affecting the course...... but wet greens/fairways should dry up really fast once it heats up... i caddied a canadian tour event and i thought that players didn't adjust for greens drying out enough through the day.

i'm a recovering alcoholic - 7 years of 100% compliance -.... i do alot fewer stupid things these days than i used to........ so i know the behaviour very well - unfortunately.

i remember i used to wake up and wonder who wrote all this stuff on FB ... "oh, it was me". most of it was stupid, fairly good-natured, benign stuff but it's embarassing thinking back.

btw, the kid from Texas A&M - from sacramento - is half-black. that might explain inate quickness... i know that's politically incorrect. but watch any sprint finals at the olympics

i think they must declare before the tourney and obviously once you declare you can't go back - at least not for a long long time when you give up your pro status.

i was course marshalling recently for two amateurs both of whom did well in the last couple of years in pga events. one was 6th in a major ... one guy said that his player partner thanked him for being amateur as it must made him an extra $30k.. the other player or his father replied "no one thanked us for donating $300K to another pro"....

At that swing speed you can get away with launching it that low. I doubt he gains more than 10 yards if he started launching it at 10-14.
