Yeah pretty much. I wouldn't want them to stop going to previous sites but am glad they are mixing in new venues. Not every year needs to be at a super exclusive country club in the Northeast. Looking at the list I thought they were going back to Bethpage Black but maybe that's the PGA instead (and Ryder Cup).

Of course the primary motivation for adding in Torrey / Bethpage / Chambers Bay / Erin Hills is to play at courses the public can access, which is logical and smart.

At least some percentage of whining about new sites is people who don't like change, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. After all, in its current form Oakmont looks a lot like a slightly less hilly Erin Hills and you don't hear bitching about going back there.

since the start of the OWGR era, there has never been a major where the #1, 2 and 3 ranked players missed the cut. DJ needs to make the cut or else this would be the first time.

+1 with six holes to go as we speak. Really flirting with it.

Does DJ have to stay in ****ty Wisconsin for the weekend now and hand out the trophy, or does the US Open not do that?

I don't think so but not sure. Was last year the year the USGA girl handing it out clearly not even close to sober?

Round 2 numbers

73.51 = a.m.
72.94 = p.m.

36-hole splits
146.62 = early-late
146.59 = late-early

That's what you call a fair draw. Very unusual in a major for afternoon scores to be easier than the morning in otherwise fair conditions.

I'm guessing that doesn't happen very often.

What's with the word Golfing in the OPS thread title? That hurts me badly.

Anyway, woth rain in the forecast there is no way they can crispy up these mini golf greens.

These scores are a joke. If their plan was to let the horses run free and then send them to the glue factory on the weekend they have miscalculated.

Depending on pins and wind we are looking at 15, 16, or 17 under....in an Open...

I want CARNAGE!

For him try an 8 iron to wedge.

The greens are mush. Marshmallow soft and the roll dead nutz true. The Jap putted lights out today. Goes out in 30. Almost sets an Open record with an 8 under round. What a joke.

All the work she's had done is obvious which is a turn off and I don't think she's even 30 and looks in her 40's. You can have her.

Patience guys the Open will show its head.
Holly and Head in the same post...hehe

Have played Erin Hills twice. The hysteria this week serves as a reminder that it's a 24 hour news cycle and they'll talk about anything which might fill it. Rory is certainly more right than Kevin Na. There are miles between the high fescue and it's pretty damned far from unfair.

The other LOL-worthy thing is talking about what a tough walk it is. Not really. There are hills (not a surprise given the name of the course) and there are occasionally decent distances from green to tee but nothing which warrants discussion.

Then there is the OMG fourteen holes have blind shots!11!!!!1 Perhaps only in the most strictly defined way.

Things which should be talked about are the bizarre, occasionally tiny bunkers, or the bizarre history of the course, or what happened when the US Amateur was played here in 2011.
Yes the blind shots. It gets tiring. Even if you know the track. I was not impressed and played it a bunch.
