For me, Paris is a contender.
Shocking I know.
I think the main 'attractions' like the Eiffel tower, Louvre and Notre Dame Cathedral is what saved the trip and just might save Paris from taking the title.
But then you enter the subway...

Singapore was boring as fk.

Didn't like Monaco either, way too expensive and you just came away feeling jealous about all the rich ballas flaunting their wealth there, even though I'm financially ok off just about anywhere else.

This entered my head when I saw the thread, but it's not that bad a place, just boring and sterile. I'd visit Singapore again over a number of places. The annoying thing about it is just that it has so much potential (Asian city where English is spoken, wealthy) and throws it all away.

You have a pretty weird approach to travelling if you think Paris is a hole but the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame are some sort of awesome attractions that save it. Yeah the Metro is scungy but who gives a ****? Paris is far from the worst place in France, let alone Europe.

detroit is pretty awful.. but flint probably takes the cake.

I'll take a dirty Asian city over it any day of the week. Sometimes things can be too clean, nice and sensible.

Somewhat agreed, but better to be clean, nice, sensible and boring than dirty, squalid, chaotic and still boring. Give me Singapore over some of the backwaters of China or Vietnam or Indonesia.

boring might depend on the person, I had pretty fun there. But I guess I got lucky and met some cool locals to show me some fun places.

expensive is just bull****. It's cheap as ****, stayed in a 4 star hotel for like a hundred US dollars per night. Food was cheap, movie tickets cheap, taxis cheap... what was expensive?

Muslims, well yeah. That's the main religion. Didn't have a problem with anybody while I was there but if you hate muslims then maybe it could be an issue.

San Antonio, Texas is the worst city I ever been to. I felt like I was in a scene from I am legend. No one on the streets except for the occasional zombied out crackhead.

having only visited the west USA, Baja Cal - Mexico, Aus, bali, NZ and Fiji I feel a little under qualified to dob any city in....

Tijuana was by far the sadest site I have ever seen. shanties with rubbish strewn outside of them looking over San Diego, must just destroy the ideals of kids looking out those tin windows.

Well you have to go to Denpasar since that's where the airport is. But really Kuta is what I meant, the place is a cesspool of trash, thieves and scum.

Obv I give a **** because when you are on 3-4 day visit Paris and you want to check as many places as you can, you spend half your time in the smelly underground, unless you want to spend a fortune on taxis.
We are not talking about some shiithole in a third world country where you can eat for a dollar and bang a two dolla hooka.
It's ****ing Paris ffs.
I pay 6 euros for a drink and a bag full of money for hotels so I expect from their city to invest some money in their transportation system at least.
And it's not only the metro, the whole city left a dirty impression on me with extremely filthy restrooms even in big name cafeterias like Starbucks, fast food chains etc, homeless bums and a smell of piss everywhere, even Champs Elysees.
So yeah, Paris was a bit of a disappointment for me, world city my ass.
I expect much more from one of the most expensive cities in the world.
It has some great old architecture to see and that's about it.

Maybe I felt this way because I live in a top notch country atm (Netherlands) where you DO pay a huge amount of money on taxes but you DO see the effect of that money well spent all around you.
