Been living here for 10 months, renting monthly via airbnb and moving all around the city renting a new apartment every month, lived in Binh Thanh, D1-Binh Thanh border, D3, D7, Nha Be and in Tan Binh. I have been walking here late at night a ton of time, often alone, I have never felt unsafe. Thb the only one time here that I almost got involved in a street fight was when I was living in Nha Be, with... a latino dude lol, who was living there as well. Never got food poisoning here but I eat where the locals eat. For the air pollution, I agree, I have checked some data and Saigon is the worst, even worst than the biggest Chinese cities. And for the beggars, lol, every megacities have beggars.
What does Saigon have that any of the seaside towns in Thailand don't have?

Vietnam is one of the most visa friendly countries in SEA (1 year visa for ~ 500 usd available to all nationalities), huge girls pool, no need to worry like in Thailand when coming back from a visa run if you gonna get refused to come back or not, way less westerners living here too, girls are more traditional than compared to Thai girls (great if you are looking for a LTR, Vietnam has one of the lowest divorce rates in the world), living in Saigon you get all the benefits from a megacity (food options, taxis available 24h, central shopping centers, nightlife etc, the only minus compared to others megacities is no metro only public bus who are dirt cheap), if you want to take a few days off and relax on the beach can take a bus (safe driving) for 100k vnd one way to go to Vung Tau 2 hours trip to go there. Overall Saigon is great, yeah the traffic here is insane but after a few months living here you develop ultra instinct to cross the street & co so no big deal. I won't live here forever tbh, I will move to a coastal town next year, probably in Vung Tau.

To make it simple, if you want to go full degen mode Thailand > Vietnam if not Vietnam > Thailand

Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Close 2nd is Eket, Nigeria. Both in the Delta Region. No one comes to vacation in these places.

Gary, IN. Majestic Casino is the worst casino I’ve been to in terms of cleanliness. There are definitely some shady cats there too.

Yeah I'm in Khartoum right now but the thread is getting more and more out of date due to bad internet everywhere. Hopefully can update it when I get to Cairo.

Delhi.

All the usual nonsense that you get in developing countries turned up to 11. Drivers hammering away on their horns constantly combined with constantly being hassled by touts that are trying to redirect you to the 'official tourist information centre'.

As a non-native English speaker from Europe, I've been to north-america three times only. Canada and the USA are pretty awesome, although so far these cities were Vancouver+island,Montreal, Toronto, Quebec city, Ottawa, Seattle, San Francisco..maybe Toronto was my least favourite.

In Oceania, I thought Adelaide was pretty stale. Nothing worth of seeing, the nature is far out of city limits or non-existent, the view from mount lofty is poor, and I would even say the best thing there is a cheap flight out of the country. Air-Asia had postponed my flight which resulted in being two more days stuck in Adelaide, you can imagine the boredom.

In the far east a medium touristy city like Kumamoto was insanely disappointing. I expected it to be as great as any other nice city on Kyushu, like nagasaki, fukuoka and kagoshima, but it turned out to be a dull city plagued by heavy traffic in the town center, and the locally famous kumamon bear (mascot) was almost nowhere to be seen.

In Europe, Belgrade was downright a culture shock to me. It's like there are only wild cavemen there and the city had been struck by a massive tornado that sucked all the colours out of the entire area.

Paris the most overrated imho, wanted to stay a week, could only stay five but left after thee days. I have only been three times to France in my entire life, which speaks volumes. One of the three times was a visit only, to disney land and that only other time was a quick border crossing from the Spanish Basque country side.

The town of Sparta (Sparti) on the Greek Peloponnese may sound exciting, but really it is a pretence. Nothing to see there, just bored old males hanging around the streets all day long (I guess that what you get for killing off all the newborn girls in ancient history to get a legion of Spartan warriors) and that statue of Leonidas has been only there since a few years to attract tourists. Don't waste any time there.

Although technically not in Europe, but asia or the middle-east; I didn't like Istanbul at all. I wanted to leave as soon as I saw it. Lot's of angry looking males giving you stinks, hardly any women to be seen, lots of stray cats, crazy traffic congestion, overpopulated, dodgy and dangerous and what not.

Adelaide is pretty dull, it has that reputation within Australia. The only reasons to visit are to see the wine regions or to come at Fringe Festival time, as Adelaide has the second largest Fringe in the world after Edinburgh. The only cities worth visiting in Australia are Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart imo. No major Australian city really sucks by world standards either though.
