My Friends and I are looking to invest into a business at the Airport in New Del India, and were wondering what it is like living there, or has anyone been through there before, I am doing a lot of research on it right now. Thankyou for your help.

I spent a few months in India this summer (Indian gf...I'm a whitey) some of it in Delhi, so I can give it a try.

Delhi is a pretty hectic scene, its dirty, crowded, traffic is nuts. That being said if you have money, which you presumably will in relative terms, you can live in fairly western style. Most upper and even middle class Indian families have their own cook and/or servant and a driver, there are plenty of modern houses/apartments, supermarkets, malls etc. We visited some her better off friends who went to college with us in the States and is was pretty interesting to see how isolated they were from a lot of the poverty that we'd been encountering on a daily basis while traveling.

Nightlife is hard to come by but I'm sure exists, much more so in Bombay though. We went out to dinner on a Friday night in a pretty lively area and the streets were totally deserted by 10pm. Its not like over here how there's a street of bars/clubs and which are busy and you can just cruise and take your pick. Many hotspots are in relatively unassuming places, like hotels and office buildings and you would never know they are there just passing by. However, with time I'm sure you could figure that out and have some good times.

Despite a fair availability of modern conveniences, it is still very much India, For example, I've also spent a few months living in Bangkok and loved it, but would never want to live in India long term. If I had to, Bombay (and maybe Bangalore) would be the only place I'd seriously consider, Delhi didn't quite do it for me in that sense. You should definitely visit before you decide to move out there...

the Indian bureaucracy has an inordinate amount of red tape and backlog. It takes forever to get anything done. In addition, be careful who you invest with and what contracts for goods and services you enter into as if they are ever broken, the property courts are backlogged over 10 years.

Just wanted to let you know

wow, actual 2p2ers in India...I'm in Bangalore btw. Delhi and India in general is not for the faint of heart/stomach. Everything chromepony has said is true, but Delhi is improving as it goes along. Unfortunately the crime rate is still high there. I'd invite u to stay in Bangalore instead! would luv to take on the LiveActionPro!
