the people who read only the chatter thread do it b/c they don't want to hear the same 20 questions over and over again posted by people who don't bother to even read the faq, much less a page or two of the thread to see if it's a question that has already been answered. they just want to chatter, so if you're posting so that those ppl have to see your post, you're being a prick.
and to be clear, i don't really mind ppl who post obvious and overanswered qeustions in the "ask us" thread. I usually go out of my way to answer them. It's called the "ask us" thread for a reason. hell, i even did my best to answer this first poster's question in "ask us" while giving him **** about the double post in chatter. the second poster asked a bkk question i couldn't answer, or i would have done the same for him.
I'm one of the handful of people who tries to be helpful in the ask us thread, while participating fully in the chatter of chatter, so it kind of falls to me to be the guy to call people out for it, since it's probably not something worthy of moderation, but it's still pretty rude, especially when you consider all that it implies about how much you actually thought about it before you did it.
also, i pretty much never mind when a regular contributor does it. they're a part of the community, and probably wouldn't do it unless it was something time sensitive or vital. i can't remember seeing a reg do it and thinking they were being a prick.
