Hey all,

We will be two (a friend of mine and I), landing in Taipei the 29th of April (08:15 am) and leaving from Taipei the 13th of May (10:25 am)

So we'll have a total of 14 effective days.

Ideally we want to discover as much as Taiwan has to offer that's why we were thinking of doing a round trip of the main island ; we prefer natural landscapes over cities.

For now, we are sketching the following route :
Around Taipei (4 days) : city attractions + trips around the city ; for example Yangmingshan + Jiufen + Fulong + Jinshan (maybe it's better to do that at the end of our journey before taking our return flight in Taipei ?)
-> what's the best area to sleep in Taipei ?
Around Taichung (2)
Around Tainan (2)
Around Kaoshiung (1)
Around Kenting National Park (1)
Around Taitung (1)
Around Hualien (2)
Taipei (1)

This is an overview and we may sleep in other cities closer to the attractions we decide to pick

Along this path, we've highlighted :
- Sun Moon Lake
- Alishan
- Xiangde temple
- Taroko

Penghu Islands look really nice also (beaches...) but we are afraid it might take too much time.

What do you think ?

Is it possible to do everything in two weeks ? (We don't have the international driver's licence so we will be using public transportation)

Would you recommend another itinerary and/or a different distribution of the number of days in each area ?

What would be the must see places for you ?

What's the visa situation for a long term stay in Taiwan?

Been doing visa exemption run every 3 months for more than a year now.

I’d say the situation is pretty good. One time I went to HK and came back less than an hour after I got off the plane. No one ever asked me any questions.

What are you doing there LB? How is it for girls, nightlife? Sorry for the noob questions I know absolutely nothing about Taiwan.

It’s not degen like Cambodia or Thailand, I’d say it’s pretty similar to what I lived in the west. The nightlife and girl situation are great, at least in Taipei. Before settling down with my gf it wasn’t an issue to meet open minded girls. Cost of living is affordable for nice quality of life and taiwan is also much more “westernized” than mainland. Overall Taiwan is great for western expat.

Is it the recent Gambling ban that make you want to leave Cambodia?

Just exploring other options if I do decide to leave at some point.

Student VIsa from a language school let you apply for ARC right away. So as long as you are enrolled you won’t need to do any Visa run.
