Probably depends on if you are posting about blasting through girls and ladyboys in Asia or not.

Hey, some people are open about it. I've been wondering if jspill and k2d keep their Asian activities a secret from family and friends back home. Same could go for infoshove and others.

Re: Random observations and indecent chronicles through my trip around SEA

I don't do crazy activities like ladyboys or mongering and don't have a problem telling my family and friends back home that I'm in Manila with a local gf while grinding micro stakes. If they ask I send them pictures.

For the record my dad thinks I should never have left and come home immediately to go to college, my mom encourages doing what I want as long as I'm happy but would prefer I do something more steady than poker, and most of my friends think it's the coolest thing ever and can't get enough pics.

My family and friends don't know that I occasionally bang trannies and ladyboys, that'd be a bummer. But if it they eventually find out I'll learn how to live with it hehe

Why is it so freaking hard to find grocery stores/supermarkets in the Philippines? Ugh...
Right now I'm just staying at a hostel in La Unión, chilling and training MMA at a local gym. Classes are pretty bad, but good to make friends

Re: Random observations and indecent chronicles through my trip around SEA

What exactly is your reason for choosing China as your next destination G2A?

I'm not knocking China, it's a fine place for many a Westerner to visit and live, but as someone who has spent a good amount of time in both China and the Philippines I would say the Philippines seems like the better of the two for you personally to spend your time in.

That's assuming you want to keep degening as you have been degening. Perhaps you don't but if you do I would certainly say that the Philippines is a more ideal location for that than China is.

If you want a break from the degening and you want a place with a richer history and culture on display then China may well be a good place to go for a while.

Re: Random observations and indecent chronicles through my trip around SEA

Also I think it's just culturally easier in the Philippines than in China...Over all that is.

It just depends upon who you are and what you are looking for. From what I can tell about you from what you have presented of yourself on these forums it's not surprising that you are a guy who chooses to spend more time in China than in the Philippines.

Where as guys like Yellow Fever, Jspill and Dante I think for sure Thailand/Philippines suites them much better than China does.

From this thread so far and his posts in other threads to date G2A seems more like a SEA sexpat than a China expat...But maybe there is a side of him we haven't seen yet that would prefer China...And as I said also perhaps he just wants a break and a temporary change of pace...Nothing wrong with that.

Re: Random observations and indecent chronicles through my trip around SEA

My main goal was never to degen it up in here. I even avoid drinking and partying. I came to Asia to see what their strategy is, when it comes to life. I get fascinated by the different approaches there can be. You can also notice that I chose very untouristy places to go: Baguio, and La Unión. But to be honest, despite my efforts I wasn't able to mix in well on both of those places.

I chose the Philippines first for the exact reason that it's culturally easier: a place to acclimate myself before I go to countries like China, Taiwan or Vietnam, which IMO are the most important ones when it comes to culture in Asia. Japan too, but I think that they are fuarked in the head now.

But I also have a severe case of homesickness already, hehe. Miss
home, steaks, my friends, my 2 year old niece.

Taiwan won't be as big of a culture shock, at least in Taipei. That is based on my 3 months experience. They are westernized to some degree and definitely don't have the mainland craziness. Boris where u at bro

Depends where he goes. Shanghai is pretty much 0 culture shock, Nanjing would be quite a bit.

Not sure if he mentioned here or another thread but sounds like most of his destinations in China would not be tier 1 cities.

Taiwan definitely not that huge of a culture shock, but still a society influenced by Confucianism. As a relatively long-time China/Asia resident, moving to Taiwan after being in the U.S. for a bit still presented a bit of culture shock. Torg0th is right that the mainland craziness doesn't really exist, which in my opinion makes for Taiwan as a mentally healthier option. I think there's definitely merits for each place, specifically I think G2a mentioned Nanjing.

Taiwan: Good air, convenient, 1st-world, very easy to travel to the ocean, mountains, hot springs, etc...

China: A bit more of the Wild Wild West (which isn't a bad thing), Nanjing very rich in history, and also the Sun Yat-sen mausoleum there (wink).

I'm glad I've experienced both, but living-wise, I'd pick Taiwan any day of the week, but for getting into the nitty gritty and having such a large departure from what I everyday life is in 1st world countries, China would be my pick.

When it comes to language, most under-30s will speak some English, and it is relatively easy to get around. My first week ever living in China, it took me 2 hours to get home when I was only 15 minutes away, because of my inability to communicate with the taxi driver (keep in mind that was in Beijing).

Also, if need my name or contact details for your application (just pm for details).

I think he said Nanning, not Nanjing. He wanted to be close to Vietnam.

Obviously it depends upon where you are and who you are talking to. If you are talking to an educated young or middle aged person of the middle class or higher in Shenzen chances are they will speak passable English. If you are talking to a street vendor in Wuhan then yeah don't expect them to know more than a few words of English, if even that.
