Why would people at the check-in counter care as long as you paid for the ticket? What are they saying that makes you think it isn't "welcomed"?
If this is visa related (i.e. they are giving you some sort of disclaimer that having a one-way ticket might cause immigrations problems), it all depends where you are coming from, where you are travelling, and what you are doing there. Even in this case the check-in people don't care.
As a general rule, faking travel documentation for immigration purposes is not a good idea.
