Anyone have any info on the Ho Tram Strip area? Put in an application for a job and have a decent shot at getting it.

I have been to Thailand twice, but know absolutely nothing about Vietnam. Wanted to know if anyone has any info on that area, where I would be looking for apartments/condos, girls, etc etc

Thanks

in Hanoi there is actually a public live poker setting at Hanoi Hotel in Giang Vo. It is a touchscreen electronic table (the use of chips is banned in Vietnam), blinds are 1/2, and the field is quite soft.

Made my first trial withdraw of 500 usd with Sacombank. No hitches.

PS said it sent 285.89 Euro. Bank said it received 270.89 Euro. No idea why the discrepancy. They said they received 270.89 and it wasn't a fee or anything. Bank took 2Euro to withdraw.

Anyone have a clue why im missing 15 Euro? I will be asking PS about it also.

Beginning a week ago, my log on time onto PS took a lot longer than usual than the regular 1 second usually taking 5-30 seconds. Play was fine. Than a few days ago, play was choppy and laggy. Lagging to the point where i would fold hands by being timed out.

I emailed PS Technical support and sent in a Network Status Report that PS has built into the PS client. They tell me im losing packets everywhere.

I use VNPT this time around for over 6 months and never had a problem. I actually have some issues opening the 2+2 forums also while being able to open youtube and other sites with ease.

Anyone else might be experiencing similiar problems? I believe this is the internet companies problem as I have a fellow poker friend nearby who is having the same issues as me. Just wondering if its VNPT as a whole or maybe just my area? Any input would be appreciated so maybe I can figure this out.

I also cant update the latest patch from PS either.

I'm also having difficulties with VNPT. I've tried resetting everything, but to no avail. It took me a long time before I was able to get on 2+2. All Google related websites are working, but other sites aren't loading. I've had the same PS problems as you.

Not to wish ill will on you or anything expulse but Im glad you have the same problem. It pretty much confirms my suspicions. I guess this is a company problem or new change. I remember hearing that there was an internet company that couldnt open FTP back than so maybe they are starting to block poker and other various sites, idk.

I also have small trouble opening other poker related sights like poker stat sites. So maybe they are starting to censor even more stuff besides facebook.

Expulse ~ how were you able to fix your problem to be able to get onto 2+2 and when did you start having problems?

An easy fix obviously is to change isp provider but for me the only company available in my area is VNPT or the use of 3g.

Started having problems this past week. Ive lowered my cookie settings to lowest, and kept refreshing 2+2. I don't bother playing @ home and head to a local coffee shop. Hopefully this is a temporary glitch.

Use hotspot shield. I had to start using it to get to Facebook and with everything else it seems to help. Haven't had a problem with PS though, just with getting to news sites.

It took me 3 hrs to successfully update the new patch by PS. kept losing packets I assume.

Today my friend that lives in the same area as me and I lost connection to PS at the same time. [Non Saigon] If you go to the help section on the PS client and choose 'Network status' It will ping all over the world. The first one, Pokerstars website; Isle of man , was at 0% for a solid 4 minutes when we lost connection.

I checked my 3g and its the same fluctuations as using VNPT so this might not be just a VNPT matter.

Can others playing poker In VN check and see if their connection is stable by using the PS client > help > Network status and report your findings with what isp you use?

Thank you.

plat4me ~ If hotspot shield is rerouting your ip, what if they use a usa ip address which will cause you to be redflagged and PS account frozen? Are you aware of this or am I totally off base. Im not to familiar with vpn's really.

I was staying in dist 1 motel and PS kept dropping out - timing me out etc. I changed hotels and it seems better now.

Spets ~ can you ask the hotel your staying at what company they use for their internet? The one that's working, not the first one.

It's still pretty crappy speeds, not sure if its like that everywhere in HCMC but when i stayed in vungtau i was getting much better speeds on torrents etc. Here im dling tv shows at like 15kb/sec with short lived spikes up to 150.

Ill try to ask tomorrow.

Im sure no one is reporting anything because no one really knows. Knowledge on things other than Saigon and Hanoi main area are hard to come by. Even other popular places like Nha Trang etc, you wont find much information.

Regarding nightlife and ladies, I'll pm you some sexually oriented forums where you can get familiar with VN. You basically will just have to venture out yourself and have a look see.

Good luck on the job, seems like a very nice area.

I remember reading on these forums about playing poker overseas a long time ago before I decided to live abroad. I saved the info/thread on 2+2 but lost it due to a computer bluescreen/crash.

Regarding US citizens. If my memory serves me right. Your supposed to report foreign bank accounts if balances total over 10,000?

You are allowed to make 90,000 tax free overseas?

If anyone know any info regarding these, pls fill me in.

I assume from the above, as long as I dont make more than 90k in poker in VN, I dont have to file a tax return. Also if i dont have a total of more than 10k in my foreign bank account, I dont have to report that?

Also, If no one reports on this, I do believe what i said jist wise is correct. So those who are playing here now know.
