I just moved to hcmc. Can I withdraw from pokerstars to my bank acc (Timo)? They asked even questions about a payment from my employer. So I am bit worried. Otherwise I would withdraw to my home country when I am back next time before I move my account to Vietnam.

How are the WPT/APT events in Ho Chi Minh? Is the venue decent/non-smoking, is there anything else I should be aware of? I'm trying to figure out whether to play the APT in Vietnam or in Taiwan.

No smoking in Pro Poker Club Vietnam, which is awesome. Everyone smoking like chimneys in the foyer/outside area obvs lol.

Only downside is food options are a tad limited in that area (it's not a casino) but loads of people order grab food (easier for someone not playing to organise as WPT has 10min breaks).

Quite a lot of western regs, but many many absolute whales make up for it.

There is a 10% tax on winnings in Vietnam

That sounds good, thanks for the reply. I'm assuming the 10% is simply held by the casino when paying out? And are cashouts for tournaments generally done by int. bank wires?

Yeah the casino will take the 10% as far as I know (100% bricks for me thus far). All friends who cashed received cash, pretty sure wire option not given.

They do kind of have cash games but they are run as the weird SNGs where the blinds don't go up.. at least Pro Poker Club did when I was there in March.

But they can't trick the police or the courts with this. I heard of a hcmc club that got raided and players went into jail (including foreigners) for 3+ months.
I have no proof if this is true or not. A regular in Manila told me this. His friend got released after 3 months (+30k bribe).

I can only repeat what I got told. I have no proof of this but heard similar stories a year back where they put even rich Vietnamese in jail for some time.

The bribe money of 30k was just for reducing the sentence from 6 to 3 months. No buy out.

What I also heard is that the only safe place is pro poker club. Reason is they get protected by officials from Hanoi.

But it's basically all rumors...
