Guys who play online in cities that aren't HCMC, are there any internet cafes/places you can grind from or do you just hang in your apartment/hotel for that? I tend to prefer having someplace to go as it feels more like work which helps me focus

I grind from apartments but you can easily do it from anywhere really, if you can hold your concentration, cafe's are doable, they got good internet or alternatively tether from your phone, works great for online poker.

Any estimation what tether from your phone would cost grinding 50ish hours a week?

It doesn't use much for online poker. Just make sure you stop it once you are done, so don't be surfing the web while you are tethering. 50 hours should prob be around 1gb-2gb. I'm not completely sure on the exact amount but just google or search 2p2 as it has been covered.

I usually buy a monthly data package for a few bucks, get like 10 gb and for me it's enough to grind the month on.

Just a warning for you guys doing withdrawals from sites via bank transfers. I did one for the first time with a new site. After a week I didn't receive it, after contacting my (ex!) bank they told me that they received my money but that the company didn't give a reason (why they are sending me this money) when they sent it to me. Apparently companies should do that when sending money in Vietnam (fkn lol). So my bank started to ask me questions, I spent a ton of time dealing with the customer service of the site and my bank, trying to resolve it but at the end my bank was asking me proofs that me and the site was unable to give (or proofs that I could..). At the same time I received an other bank transfer from an Ipoker skin with the same bank, not the first time and as usual my bank transferred it to my account no questions asked by my bank.
So my advice to anyone doing bank transfers here, if it's the first time that you do one with a site do a small amount (not 1 month expenses as I did ) as a test then if you receive it it's unlikely that you will have problems in the future with this site and your bank.

Thanks, considering moving to Da Nang and make it my base here in SEA, any inputs on Da Nang?

Do you have any specifics questions about Da Nang? I have been living there for a while a few years ago, I really liked. The tourism in Da Nang is booming since a few years, new-york-times-names-da-nang-among-best-travel-destinations-in-2019, so the prices (apartments rentals etc) went probably up since I was living there. For the best areas to live, near the beach: anywhere between A La Carte Hotel and Holiday Beach Hotel, where most expats live, if you want to live in city centre: Azura.

Do you think its still possible to find decent apartments for 200-300 $ a month? I dont have to stay in the most popular areas, I see on many sites that they have apartments in that range, but ive heard alot of it is photoshopped etc.

How are the price level compared to Saigon and Nha Trang?

If you sign a 1 year contract yeah I think so but for that budget not sure how nice the apartments will be. What you can do is join the housing groups on FB for the cities that you are interested and ask there for your budget and see what people offer you. You could consider Vung Tau too, it's one of the biggest coastal cities in Vietnam. 99% of the tourists there are Viets from Saigon who want to escape the madness of Saigon and go there to relax on weekends. You will barely see any western tourists there because most of them will go to Da Nang or Nha Trang. If you are adventurous it could be a good option if you want to live on a low budget. Pretty sure that there you could find a nice studio for 300$ maybe even a 1 bedroom apartment (1 year contract). Also an other advantage of Vung Tau is the proximity with Saigon, 2 hours by bus (100k vnd one way).

saigon is exensive for rent. if you live month to month like me using airbnb you cant find respectable place less then 800 a month high season, 550 a month low season( low season just started). vung tau and da nang much cheaper.

Looks like there are some decent apartments on that site for 250-300 a month in Danang,I will checkout the facebook pages also and ask. Ive read a bit about Vung Tau, could be a place I could stay. It just seem kinda hard to find a girlfriend in a place like that considering the language barrier..

Thank you for answer!

Check this out: https://houserentaldanang.com/da-nang-apartments/

Many apartments in your range! You can def negotiate short term, even month to month. They even take a long term contract for 3 months, you just have to ask them, you might end up paying like an extra $25-50 for month to month.

Np, remember to negotiate, it's buyers market, they have apartments sitting empty that they need to rent desperately. Hence why it's so easy to rent month to month, even if they are asking for long term!

Just talk to them and let them know what you want!

I found that site via these guys, they have lived in Danang for over a year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYXmduK-rQE

Danang looks very nice. Guy in video mentioned 350 usd for place next to beach.

Would it be easy to open a bank account in Vietnam, trying to get money deposited online. Will have a 3 month visa, I read the longer the visa the better the chance.

Easy. All transactions from/to e-wallets are blocked by (most) Vietnamese banks. You can do btc to e-wallet.
