Re: online pros living in Vietnam thread

I came in on a 3 month multiple entry tourist visa, extended 1 month with a single entry ($90), and then made a visa run to Phnom Penh and came back in on another 3 month multiple entry. I was told I could extend after my initial 3 months, but only with a single entry at the moment, and that was looking to run me around USD $250. Hope that helps.

A group of us (2p2 hyenas) in Saigon are going to be doing a night out on Friday. Thinking starting at a Vietnamese beer/bbq garden and then seeing where the night takes us. Give a holler if want to join.

Re: online pros living in Vietnam thread

Hi guys,

im thinking of relocating to HCMC for somewhere between 3-6 months. Would like to ask a few questions and hopefully the guys living there now can help me out abit.

1) I Heard from a local viet friend who lives in Hanoi that it is not v safe in HCMC especially at night. To what extent is this true based on ur own experiences?

2)what would a decent serviced apartment (Studio) located near the city/ammenities like supermarket and eateries cost me every month?

3)Do they allow foreigners to open bank accounts there without a long term visa?

4)Can most people speak basic english in HCMC? Was in hanoi and a vast majority of them can only speak viet.

5)What are your thoughts on Viet people and their culture in general(nice/helpful/sketchy/dodgy?) etc

Re: online pros living in Vietnam thread

1) LOL. Super safe
2) A modern studio with kitchen and sofa in D1/D3/Binh Thanh/Thao Dien would cost you 450-600$ per month if you rent monthly via airbnb. A little bit less if you sign a lease for 3-6 months.
3) Yes
4) No. But it depends where you are, in D1 or in Thao Dien most young adults will speak basic English.
5) Good. Tbh I didn't have any bad experiences here with the locals, except once a taxi scam (at airport) and of course the occasional dual pricing. Overall Viets are nice, friendly.
