Live poker my friend runs a decent sized 5/10 game with alot of wealthy ppl in vietnam (HCM) and hanoi if you guys are interested in playing in it. At the moment the players are quite bad just wealthy and it is quite friendly. At the moment theyre only running one table in there.

They do speak english also as the person who runs it used to live in singapore and has family from australia.

If anyone wants to get in contact wth them i can pass their info to my friends in the game.

What is the max buy in? I didn't play there last winter, focusing strictly on online poker instead and only played live in Phnom Penh...

What do you mean by a live game? A casino game or a home game? And what are the buy ins?

Didn't they raise the rake from 3% uncapped to 5% uncapped or something like that? Any idea how often it runs?

Does anybody know how the Hanoi and HCMC New World games compare? In Saigon, I felt like my lungs needed a break after about 30 minutes, let alone 8 hours. Going into that place is like breathing in 20 packs of cigarettes without a break. A thick wall of smoke gets recycled back into your lungs with every single breath...normally cigarettes don't bother me at all.

Ill guess Ill give a recent New World report. I was in Saigon for 4 days and popped in NW for 3 of them. Place is dead for poker. First day I popped in twice. Second day I popped in late and not one poker player was there.

3rd time I wanted to trade for usd on the cheap since ill be heading home soon so I played roulette, had free drinks and a free meal. Played for about an hr. When I cashed out, there were two people playing poker and they were speaking the same foreign language. I figured it would be +ev to play because why would anyone play 2 handed poker if they knew each other at NW rates unless it was a trick but it seemed legit.

Ended up only playing poker for like an hr also. I believe they were tourist and def not fish. Soft playing each other was a given but I called it quits when they both began being constantly very aggressive betting more than 4 times the pot on bets when they were following my lead of playing small ball the whole time. Came out 100 ahead.

NW def shot itself in the foot by raising the rates even though lowering them again but raising the buy in. The roulette min was also raised.

Pre 5%, the smoking was bad. I dont smoke but could stand it when going out but the rate the table would chain smoke or tag team smoke made it almost unbearable.

A weird question, but did you think any of those two overbetting dudes were likely gay?

There was a similar situation there the last night I played when two gay dudes (both Asian...but one seemed like he was probably from the US and the other Australia) pretended to be newcomers to poker, pretending not knowing WTF was going on, pretending to be drunk, etc. Suddenly, the one that was pretending to understand the least started making these huge overbets and shoves in situations where it was very unlikely a person could play back or in situations where he wanted to get paid.

I started playing back almost immediately. Here are two of the most notable hands that happened 3 handed...both right before I left:

- i lost $1.4k w/ AKo vs 94o ai (on this board 5s6c8c) after i 3bet, cbet flop, he shoved i instacalled
- i lost $900 when i crai Ac4c and was proudly instacalled by Kc2c on 9h9c4h2h turn..river 2. ha.

They had a whole angling act/operation going on. I left because everything felt a little strange after running $10,000 under EV in very odd all-in situations the previous few nights.

They wernt gay guys. New World is prob a very easy place to angle and cheat in so many ways. The table even allows a short stack person who doesn't has enough chips to make a full raise to go all in and the next person to keep raising.

Has anything fishy ever been told/explained to staff; I assume nothing would be done though.

I'm not even a good cash game player so I count myself lucky to come out ahead in that situation.

Also, VK here and still treated like a second class citizen when the other guy gets his balls coddle when he says hello. Its laughable because its so blatant.

Also, they shrunk the meat patty on their burgers substantially.

Looking at doing a visa run stop in HCM/Saigon for the people that know the area is this hotel good / in a decent area.

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/vietnam/...ue-river-hotel

Dont really know much about the area. Is 2-3 days enough to get a quick feel for the city and go out drinking/partying and a little sight seeing. Nothing 2 adventourous just stuff in the city.

Are you back scroosko?

The best bet for finding laptop batteries or anything computer related is phong vu - 125 Cách Mạng Tháng 8, Phường Bến Thành, Quận 1, Tp HCM

I suppose 2-3 days is enough. Grab a lonely planet (many people will be selling pirated copies around your hotel on the street) and see some of the sites it suggest.

sl4v3, I think you bank with HSBC for a while now and you've had your issue with banks so that's why i'm asking you. I've been here for about a month and just open a bank with HSBC, but it seems like i can't deposit into Pokerstars? When depositing, stars always give me "Your Credit Card Issuer does not permit gaming deposits, and your deposit will be declined".

I have their regular HSBC credit card. I tried asking my banking agent and she seems to not be able to do anything. should i just try another bank? what are your thoughts on this or anyone that has this problem for that matters.

You cannot deposit into a pokersite from a vietnamese bank account. Its just the law.

Then how do you suppose i get around it? i read the whole thing here and some people in this thread seems to be able to deposit directly from the bank? would you care to educate me a little here? I also tried to use Entropay and i can't put my HSBC money in there as well.

Just use a credit card from your home country. Otherwise, if you have a job here, just transfer the money from a VN bank (Vietcom, ACB etc, with a labour contract and 3 payslips) into a visa debit card from your home country). If that fails, just PM people and ask if they will trade VND for stars money.

Not sure about entro. The last time I deposited, I used my Commonwealth Bank Australia visa debit card.

I haven't heard of it before. Is it the system that VN uses to process visa transfers?

it's just an ewallet, can use it in any country. it's a 'virtual debit card'. once you upload funds to it you can then deposit onto gaming sites to get around gambling restrictions. it should work, keep trying as djle said. some se asia banks at first give you a 'cash card' that's only for ATM use, that could be the problem. you have to ask for an additional debit card or set up the card for online use, or both. ask your bank
