thinking of heading to da nang/hue for a week or so in june. original plan was HCM but it looks like june gets a lot of rain.. is there much bars/night life in either city?
how easy is it to hire scooters/motorbikes? do they take a deposit? is there anything to look out for to avoid dodgy hiring places?..
any other places worth seeing in this part of viet?

I went to VN in 2003, I was very shy and introverted at the time, but I did get into bed with one woman, she was the 'bad girl' type though, worked in a tour agency and I think she liked tourists.

I did get the feeling that a lot of women were very attractive to me, and if I was more confident I could have had a lot of fun - I think being a tall westerner with red hair is a bit exotic for them? (I am a good looking guy, I just lack in the self confidence department at times).

Anyway, I am coming back to VN for a holiday in June this year, and I want to have some fun. I Loove Vietnamese women, they are gorgeous, so I am hoping to be able to hook up with some. I have been meeting quite a few on VN love the website, cant wait to meet some for real.

My question is - they profess to be very conservative, I know it is a very conservative culture. Is it possible / difficult to get a typical girl (not bad girl / bar girl type) to hang out with, date and hook up with without having to profess to be in a relationship with a future or comittment?

Any tips for a keen guy with a good heart much appreaciated ( I have a good heart, I dont want to trick women, but I do want to hook up and have fun while I am there).

You should be fine. There's plenty of normal, good conservative type girls that will be genuinely interested in meeting you, hanging out and seeing what happens. Your only job is to make sure they're what you think they are.

I just read an post online, saying "please dont date any Vietnamese women unless you are thinking of marriage - they all cant help but get lost in a prince charming dream and when you leave they will be forever crushed".

Is it really like that, or is that how it used to be?

Surely, there are some reasonably level headed ones who are happy to date (and play around / have fun) without expecting a long term relationship out of it?

Regarding the last point, what are the dangers here? I dont mind too much who I end up with as I will just be playing around and having fun, as long as she is not really dirty, and god forbit I fall in love, but I hope that wont happen. I just want to have some fun with the most beautiful women on earth (imo)

well actually it's not that easy to find. I mean even in the west girls typically are looking for commitment. To find a **** buddy that's cool with it is not easy anywhere.

You can find some to have fun with here, but for the most part don't expect them to be very conservative and without motives. Best bet maybe to find an older 25+ girl that has like an office job that speaks good english and is open to western culture. She could be a girl you could have fun with without anything serious and be ok with it.

theRealOmahaKid: Although this is true that New World closed down for some time when they increased the rake, the games have returned somewhat once they re-lowered the rake from 5% no cap to 3% no cap.

What's 5% of zero? The profits for New World when they increased the rake.

They've since backed out of that rake raise. Games are running again, though not as strong as before.

Went there around 3 months ago and was horrified at the 5% rake. I also expressed to the floor man how horrific I thought this was. Perhaps that may have prompted them to lower the rake. lol Action there was rather weak the 2 times I was there.

PokerStar Steve : Did you know that all wire transfers of USD currency must pass through a US 'correspondence' bank if both the origin and destination are outside of the US?

We always knew the extra fee was due to an additional bank but I guess this may explain why.
