After entering, there are services that will extend your visa for about $175. They changed their law this year for US citizens which increased the 3 month standard visa into 6 months. Not sure about Britain.

When my visa almost expired my choices were to take a bus to cambodia(cheapest), fly to bangkok, or visa extension with a travel agent. I chose the latter after finding one with good reviews on tripadvisor.com.

For 6+ months you can get a business visa, 6 months visa costs ~ $350 and 1 year visa $550. You can apply online.

What's the best accommodation choice in HCM for a budget up to $300/month?

Looking on Facebook and Craigslist, it seems like the choice is between a shared house, a shared apartment, or private room in a building.

In the past I've gone for the final option but none was 100% visitor-friendly and in two places, the hosts were downright hostile to any residents bringing home a girl. On two occasions, my bike was damaged in what seemed to be a 'don't do that again' hint, following me bringing a lady home.

Is this easier in apartments or shared houses, or is funny business still lurking when you're scoring?

Dunno how much it is per month but I stayed here, there was no one on reception to hassle you, I took a girl back with no issues

Dead centre of D1, that agency does the rentals so ask live chat if you can do $300/month, should be doable as it was nothing fancy, but liveable

She helped me find a decent apartment for around 360$ a while back on nguyen binh khiem, i think its quite hard for foreigners to find decent 1bed/studio places under 500$, esp if you are only looking in D1 which is generally a bit more expensive for renting.

If you are really stuck 18A nguyen thi minh khai has short term rooms for like 250/300$ p/m, they are just private rooms in a Vietnamese house. Decent location and I didnt have issues with guests.

Jspill place looks solid, i would be a little surprised if you can get it as low as 300$ a month though. GL

Haha thanks, found lots of sites just not one catering to Canadians, all of them say Americans just like the site you provided. Unless they lump us together with the Americans for some odd reason.

Not sure exactly what kind of visa you are talking about.. But business visas are available to all nationalities. The price depends of your passport, usually for western passports the price (from the website that I linked you) are correct.

Moving to Ho Chi Minh in less than three weeks for 3 months, hit me up if you want to grab a beer, hit a cafe, or just pure degen.

Also, no realtors are really responding to me, if anyone has any suggestions - looking for an apartment in the USD $800-$1100/month in D1 or wherever good nightlife is, serviced, preferably a pool.

Cheers,

Big Body

Hi guys, I’m a boy at 32 and have been reading up for poker the last month here in Siem Reap. Have been playing on micro stakes for a couples of months with some wins, or 2. - 20. place.

I have watch tons of video channels on YouTube like Jonathan Little,l etc. I’ve read the Theory of poker, Easy Game I & II. Just started on Littles Small Stake, and after a mental and math book. I will probably read more after I soon start to play.

My problem is I only have 1000$ left , so I’m have to start soon with my playing before the money runs out. I’m planning to grind/master the 1$ MTT a while first, since I like the tournament way of playing poker. I’m not into Zoom style of grinding (for now?) so I hope this will work out if I manage the microstake first. Planning to move up when the time is ready I guess.

I’m actually a Vietnamese, but have been living in Norway since 91, so I feel Myself like a tourist whenever I in VN. So
I had never been thinking of doing this
“Poker camp “ in VN before I read this post.

I would love to hear any ideas where to live in VN affordablity for my start, before I can afford better later hopefully..!

I’m a laidback guy, and could hang around and discuss poker or wherever with othe cool people.. if any could maybe help me a day or two with showing me around the city ( I think HCM or Da Nang) and grab some nice Viet food and talk poker it would help me a lot to get to settle down quick so I can start playing some poker soon.. I’ve been waiting to start playing for a time now.

Any newbie/regs/pro in VN who can give me a reply would be much appreciated..!

IN for a beer or a coffee.

For 3 months, you should just book an apartment on airbnb for 30 days then move to an other one / other area every month. That's what I have done since living here, pretty cool to explore the city imo and you keep your freedom.

I am living in Saigon, I have lived in Da Nang as well. Both cities are great imo. Hit me up for a beer/coffee when you are in Saigon. Cheers!

Travelling Vietnam from North to South from 9th August for a month. Anyone around that wants to grab a beer? I am with my girlfriend so anyone with a partner is probably a bigger plus but really don't mind!

Hey anybody do the wire transfer pokerstars option? im trying to figure out if its even possible for foreigners

Yeah, I did to test it. Had to pay a fee from an intermediary bank and lost a little more on currency conversion. If said fee remains the same for a larger transaction it could be a viable option.
