Hello people of Twoplustwo! So as you can read, Im gonna move to some place in south-east Asia! Havent really decided where yet, since I wanna do some travelling first and find a place where its cheap, girls love white man, not filled with bull****, able to play poker and yeah, thats it.

A little bit about me, Im a 25 year old guy from Northern Europe, been working a ****ty job the last few years and played some poker on the side. Been able to save up 27k usd and 2k as a bankroll in poker. When it comes to poker I play Omaha microstakes, havent made any good money from it, YET, so the plan is to work hard and be able to make a living from poker, my 25k will last a while, so I wont be in any kind of stress.

So yeah, gonna try to keep this thread filled with entertaining pics and experiences about my stay there and poker related stuff.

How do you guys get through the language barrier if you're not staying in the country long enough to properly learn (<6 months)?

I had a situation where I had to depend on google translate on my phone and it just didn't seem to bridge the gap well enough--so much was lost in translation.

I dont think its a big problem in Thailand or Philippines, In Vietnam on the other hand.

Bangkok is overpriced these days, overrun by foreign tourists and a lot of locals hate foreigners for one reason or another and want to sh*t on you to make themselves feel better. (bad experiences, cultural incompatibilities, jealous of you having more money, a bigger dick etc.)

I recommend skipping town and heading to Saigon instead or Pattaya if you want to bang hookers.

Thailand is the land of the scowls these days, totally different than 10 years ago.

Only reason why I go to Bkk is because I have something to take care of there first, not planning to stay there any longer than I have to, will probably only be a week or two. Conveying that you earn a ton of money, even if you do, is never a good idea.

English teacher, freelance writer or something that sounds like you're barely making ends meet is best, even if you should make more money than that.

If you tell a girl you're doing fancy stuff, you dress the part and live in a nice building they will all throw themselves at you.

Don't expect any genuine relationships with 3rd world women. They're all fairly goal oriented (getting a well earning guy to provide for them) and will have zero in common with you.

Just say ‘I work internet’, no one will be able to converse well enough, or care enough, to dig deeper.

That's the right approach these days imo. Top tier girls have so many guys throwing themselves at them, there is no way she'll stick around.

For me it's fairly rare that I connect with women because most have zero personality and nothing going on in their life but a superficial veneer, but once in a blue moon it happens.

With Asian girls it only tends to happen with those that have some mixed blood in their family (i.e. grandparents with Russian or Persian blood). These have been consistently the least gold digging as well.

Depends on your activities, if you do the more nerdy meetups like boardgames etc.

saigon is not a single mans paradise. one of the last comments on nomadphils site about dating in vietnam was from 2ish years ago says how the saigonese girls are very '****y'. i coudlnt find a better way to describe dating life in saigon for foreigner.

A lot are part Chinese and Chinese are mostly conservative people.

Communism and south east asian culture means everybody is always lingering, lurking, gossiping all up in other peoples business.

Your average local has very little privacy and needs to manage their reputation carefully, especially when it comes to dating western guys.

You have the same issues in Thailand with girls from "better" families that don't want to be shamed as a race traiting slut.

The developed world where a middle class still exists to a certain extend is much easier in that regard.
