Let's be real here. A huge percentage of jumpers get emotionally involved with a local woman and she bails when the money runs out or when she gets the guy's money. Another bunch gets involved in the party lifestyle and snap back to reality when the they cannot fund it anymore. Plus add dependence on alcohol or drugs (legal or not) to the above and it's obviously a recipe for disaster. K2d does not belong to either group so his risk of ending up like that is much lower.

Also, your advice regarding a career would make sense for someone who has either a solid degree, interpersonal skills, or connections. For the rest of the population, the employment situation in the US is pretty grim. They can expect limited savings and limited upward mobility (google the stats). To top it all off, the dating pool is dismal and is made up of women who are either obese/overweight or entitled. The only possible reason to live in the US would be to be able to provide a better life for his children. However, Dante doesn't plan to have any so it doesn't apply.

this all started because dante wanted information about what to do in kuala lumpur. i gave it to him. when he found out that the train costs $10 each way into the city, he all of a sudden claimed that KL seems boring, that there's nothing to do there, so decided to spend two days holed up in an airport hotel to save himself $30 rather than explore the biggest city in a country he has never visited before. he'd rather stare at the ceiling for two days to save $30 instead of explore a new city.

he claimed it had nothing to do with money. i disagreed. i said it had everything to do with money.

when he found out that the airport hotel costs double what the equivalent hotel in KL costs, he all of a sudden went quiet. no doubt he would have chosen the cheaper hotel option by staying in KL itself because every decision dante makes is based on saving money above all else, despite his claims to the contrary.

i know his life probably amuses most of you on some level and encourage him for the entertainment value, but this is someone's actual life we're talking about here. unless he begins making a concerted effort to turning his life around then it's going to end really badly for him in the next 5-10 years. i'm the only one here trying to help him.
