For crossing the border--Otay Mesa Port of Entry is the nuts...not hard to get to and the border wait is a fraction of the San Ysidro cluster****. Actually I am not sure why anyone uses San Ysidro.

This is the route I take, and I think it's a little bit less confusing than taking MX1, which I have also taken to Otay.

Just caught up thru this whole thread, thanks for all the insight on Mexico. I'm living in San Diego now and plan on eventually splitting time between here and an office in Rosarito to grind on the weekends+ if I can find a good room coming up. I wouldn't make this post if I wasn't sure though.

If any other Rosarito smokers are gonna be in San Diego anyways and want to indulge on off days in cali bananas send me a pm. Not an ad, i've always shared and it would be nice to not be a complete stranger to your community when I start my search for a room.

I have only one reference on 2+2 that could vouch for me as to not being a scumbag and being serious about poker but he's a legit supernova sng grinder(was and will be again) that gave me a little booster when I had to withdraw all before.

I'm a 28/m/ca haha and would be grinding micro cash games 16nl+ while I work towards a 100nl-200nl roll goal. Don't want to derail this further after so before the micro lol's, keep in mind i'd be living in San Diego as well working a near minimum part time with healthcare. Then putting in insane volume on the weekends in mexico and more often when my br expands. Also dual wielding the CA fish when state legislation comes. tl;dr sorry...

Sorry if it's already posted but the thread is pretty long and I didn't see one when I skimmed through it. Thinking about heading to Mexico around June and I haven't been able to check out what I can rent down there very well. Anyone have a link where I can look at some pics of apartments/rental houses? Do any of you living down there have any one to recommend to someone who can show us around if we take a trip out there to look? Awesome thread and thanks for any info.

Hello,

I grind MTT's and am looking to travel to Mexico and establish my citizenship. I speak fluent spanish and am looking for a steady grind house with other serious grinders.

US citizen from Los Angeles.

Thanks.

I'm thinking like two weeks from Wednesday as a first try at this.
I'll get drunk, scream, and cheer for 90 minutes.

How big is the 2+2 group down there? Is soccer/basketball/other happening regularly? Def would be nice to get some exercise on a regular basis. Also, how long does it take to get to San Diego (including crossing the border)? Trying to decide between Rosarito/Buenos Aires and a couple other places. Safety/getting hassled by cops is also a concern. Some people make it sound like I'll be dodging bullets and getting framed for cocaine possession 24/7 and others tell me it's not a problem at all. Any input would be helpful :-)

-Theres about 65 poker players now in Rosarito
-Soccer is working on being set up atm I think, basketball/volleyball happens on the reg
-Depends on the time you cross but usually will take about 3-6 hours including border wait to get to San Diego from Rosarito
-It is completely safe down here, nothing to really worry about

BA > Rosarito

honestly I'd assume it's safer here though, simply because its a sleepy ass beach town

One guy got stopped for drunk driving on the wrong side of a closed road and paid like $120 i think to get out of it. All of us agreed he overpaid by about $100, locals and those of us that deal with cops alot alike. The same day I got 'caught' drunk driving and we had a bunch of weed they smelled, but I just said sorry and we're going home and we avoided a full on search, which may have cost $20.

Don't do coke, travel with weed, drive drunk, etc....and you won't have any problems. If you do choose to do these things, 99% of the time you'll be very glad you are in mexico if you get caught. I'm pretty sure stealing and crimes like that are extremely looked down upon, but anything victimless is relatively ok.

Basically just don't be a scumbag and have a morsel of street smarts and it's just as safe here as any other city in the US or western europe or anywhere.

Anyone got any tips on how they got stars to call their cell phone? For some reason they can't seem to get ahold of mine, last time I told them to add a 1 before it since I've heard that's how u have to do it for cell phones but they said they called some international operator and she said that the phone didn't exist... yet I call people with it and recieve calls etc. Any one else have trouble like this and figure out a solution? I'm stuck and got this phone like 99.5% for stars only so kind of lame.

the norm is that they only take landlines, no cellphones iirc. that may have changed, but not sure. maybe its why ur having a problem, do they know its a cell phone? try a skype phone#, works best imo and i had no issues. $18/3mos btw. gl.
