They said you'd still pay the international rate for any calls placed from Mexico.

So I'll most likely do like metetrown and get get a phone down there and look for a super cheap plan here in the us.
Hmm that's not my understanding of it, I think it covers calls made from MX too.

I gotta check my bill now...and yeah in re: Meter's question, I am just very lazy, sucker-ish about minimizing my cell phone expense. I should get better.

Edit: Yes I just checked and I do not get charged for calls I make while I'm down here. Call 611 imo.

Thanks. I'll do that tomorrow before I leave. Maybe rosarito is considered US still?

Border waits have looked insane last couple days...I crossed at 2AM when there was only like a 20-30 minute wait, and it looks like the wait was back up to an hour by 4AM.

Does anyone know what the timeframe for the finished construction at San Yisdro POE is and/or if the result will be a sped up line?

Took Shaniac's advice and called 611 to get all the info and turns out the Viva Mexico plan does include calls made from Mexico. A couple limitations are on it and you can only use a certain percentage of your anytime minutes averaged over a 2 month period for calls from Mexico. I was told the night and weekend minutes aren't included in that limitation though.

Nice to be able to keep the same number and not have to worry about phone stops when traveling to or from Rosarito.

Are there any fees for people calling me?

I'm in Las Vegas, Nevada. If I added the Viva Mexico thing keeping my Las Vegas number would someone using their ATT phone calling me from Cali get hit with any fees?

I don't think so but that's the one thing I forgot to ask. I'm assuming since I'll be keeping my US number anybody calling me will be the same as them calling that number in the US. Shaniac might know better.

Anybody have a recommendation for getting to Rosarito from the San Diego airport. Getting in tomorrow with another player around 2:30pm and working on transportation down there.

Def glad a bunch of guys went to dinner in Rosa instead of TJ the other night! was great to meet every1 here, and not only did i not get any ****ty vibes from any1, most of the guys i met seemed really cool, like good guys/friends! this seems weird, but i am thrilled about my decision to leave prague, the place of endless beautiful women, great beer, great people, and good food... to come to what most other americans know as: ewww mexico... Rosa FTW!!

also, if any1 here needs stars $ for cash, esp any of the guys from dinner, pm or skype me

talk to sunny, my realtor jane had a friend give him a ride from SD to the condo for like $70

Last edited by boliver; 01-31-2012 at 06:00 PM. Reason: think it was $65 and he gave him $80.

Actually I should thank you for motivating me to look into the efficiency of my minutes plan. I was paying for a much bigger plan than I needed. So now I'll be paying 1/2 as much for the Viva Mex plan and the bill should be ~$100 including my US data plan, etc.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to put feelers out since I have a two BR, two bath condo and one bedroom isn't being used. It's a sick very roomy condo with a big patio overlooking the ocean. Mainly looking for a friendly and clean roommate. $300 a month pays for rent and utilities.

Until somebody moves in, would be happy to rent it out for smaller amounts of time for $20/night.

Send me a PM and we can talk or Skype.

Mind bender, you can take the bus to the trolley station, then the trollley down to the border. $5 for the bus and trolley total. Then walk across, then catch a yellow cab.

Yeah I wasn't looking to do all that. I will be traveling with all my luggage/laptop as so will my buddy. I read in the thread someone would pick up at airport in San Diego and drive down to make a few bucks. Does anyone know of someone willing to do this?!

Just for super duper understanding...you have a USA phone number not a MX number that your friends in USA are calling?

This is the guy i used. Miguel recommended him. Theyve brought a lot of poker players down. It was like 110 from SD to Calafia which is south of downtown rosa. If you have two people and a bunch of luggage you might need to pay extra for a van or something.

If you could find someone thats coming down and pitch them a few bucks thatd prob be cheaper but would be harder to get the timing right. Have a good trip down

I searched on the past threads for "Telnor" and it looks like those that have it are happy with it. Has anyone had any problems with it? Which carrier was using a US IP address? Any other hardline internet recommendations?

Thanks!

Telnors been great for my roommate and I. I've DC'd one time for a total of about 3-4 mins in the >3 months I've been here.

We upgraded to the fastest version of it (think its like $80 US/month for both net/phone, so $40 each), and its actually faster both DLing and uploading compared to my internet back home and the internet I had where I lived in Vegas.

Would def recommend Telnor over any of the other companies

To anyone not in they skype chat, were trying to get a fishing trip going next week in ensenada. Prob be like 60-70 bucks a person which would pay for the yacht, gear and bait. We'd need to pay for booze and food we brought. Get to keep all the fish you catch. Gonna be a bigger boat so seasickness shouldnt be an issue. Would need to be at the pier in ensenada (which is like 25 miles south of rosa) by 7am.

If anyones interested pm me or post in here or get added to the chat

Just got to Rosa and staying in Calafia. I'd be down for the fishing trip most likely. Send me the details or an invite to the group.
