Tip for all: DON'T CROSS THE BORDER ON SUNDAY NIGHT.

It took over 3 hours. Didn't get back to LA until 5 in the morning. So tilting.

Also, does anyone in Rosarito want to buy a 30 inch monitor? It's the newest Dell; would sell for 750. I want to get the Apple 27 inch monitor.

I am not sure what your vision for this "email list" is, but I don't feel the need to put my personal information into any kind of organized, formatted public list. This thread is a good basis for research but beyond that, I think you should PM people, meet people in the normal ways (a lot of grinders are very active down here), and most of all come down and check out a bunch of places.
Agreed. Each area will satisfy the need of different people. If you are here to party then my location would suck (but why pick Rosarito if you are partying). If you want to grind and relax, I can't think of a better location. Shaniac's place fits the bill too.

The best place for a good balance is probably Los Olas Grand. Far enough from downtown to avoid most of the noise but close enough that nightlife is accessible. Driving 25 minutes on the toll road with a buzz doesn't sound very appealing to me.

Steel108,

Go and eat some Pizza @ Ollie's (or any other place that offers them) and ask for the free (with 70 Dlls purchase) "Tourist Pass" and never wait hours to cross the border again. Ask Shaniac, I know he is using them.

I don't have the exact list but It would be a good idea if we just keep on adding places to this list. I'm starting with the ones that I remember:

1-El Pescador.
2-Bahia Cantiles Cantina.
3-Ollie's Pizza.
4-Sussana,s. (Excellent Mexico-Californian fusion, but pricy)
5-La Fonda.
6-Poco Cielo (not 100% sure)
7-Rubbens.

How much smaller? I assume all these places let you keep a running total of your purchases to hit the amount.

I have heard this, but not confirmed...so that locals can just go eat there regularly and collect fastpasses when they earn em. Bahia is $35 I think, Mongolian is $20 or $25.

List of places offering fastpass: (probably more, just an online list I found)

Rosarito Beach Hotel
Rosarito Inn
Bobby's by the Sea
Lizard Lounge
Grand Baja Resort
Calafia Hotel
Festival Plaza
Brisas del Mar Hotel
Mongolian Grill
Fausto Polanco

So you go to these restaurants pay a certain amount on food, then when your meal is over they give you some kind of pass that lets u go into a different line when crossing back into the USA?

Do these passes have a date on them, like you have to get them the day you leave, or if u happen to go to one of these places u can get a pass and hang on to it until the next time you cross?

yep, you got it, and on this line you skip almost the entire mass of cars waiting and get in maybe 15-20 cars away from the customs booth.

The ones I've seen are blank, but you gotta fill out some info including the date, and I am told you have to do the day you are leaving (apparently it has to be used with 24 hours after filling out the date or something).

UPDATES on these fast pass lists are a must. The restaurants pricing and procedure to obtain is of mass importance imo. Lets all try these spots and report.

really man you just gotta get here and then do these things one by one. wal mart you can't miss. telnor you need to be here so we can give you "2 lights past smart and final, turn left at the guy selling puppies, under the bridge...etc".

all of the things ur asking really you'll find out when u get here. Grocery stores aren't that tough to find even when you don't speak the language... Once ur here just skype someone when u need directions, prob easier than us making a new post about it every time another person moves down here.

gl with the move, vaya con dios!

Does anyone have a cheap downtown hotel to recommend? Do the lower end hotels have internet access? Are there other places with wi-fi or internet cafes?
