I could see it being a problem if you're Chris Oliver or Flava Flav but everyone else shouldn't mind!

Where did you end up leasing?

Oh and sorry thread for the derail. WAs a dumb comment made on a really bad day at a really bad time. Normally I wouldn't even care, was just terrible timing. Won't derail again.

Also still plan on moving there, barring something crazy happening. We plan on heading down soon to check things out before moving. Maybe even the first week or two of december.

From what i understand, that's pretty standard for this side of the pacific ocean, at least that's how it is in so/nor cal.

I'm not a huge fan of Tecate beer, but since it's produced so close from here locals say that is very fresh. You will have to try it and give us your input.

I like Tecate more than Corona. I don't drink a lot, but from what I remember, I'd rank the ones I've had as follows:

Dos Equis Amber
Negra Modelo
Pacifico or Tecate

Corona (don't like the aftertaste)

Perks are its easy to get here/close to the border.
Yeah this. Rosarito is fine for me, but it's big selling point is it's distance to the USA and the fact it's generally really cheap. There isn't really much to do here and the ocean sucks if you didn't grow up in California and are already used to it. But I'm in Rosarito to grind so it works great.

If I was living with my girlfriend in Mexico, we wouldn't be in Rosarito because she'd probably get bored out of her mind. Not really sure that wouldn't be the case in PDC either, but at least it'd be better. I'd probably choose a more Westernized country tbh.

----------------

Note to everyone. Do not get Baja Wireless. So many reasons, but it's generally terrible even as a last resort. It's fast when it works, but it's down so much. Probably worse, all of Baja Wireless shares 1 IP address. And that IP address is banned on a ton of sites (not poker sites, yet). It's just a huge risk to your poker funds and sanity.

----------------

I got lost going from Rosarito toll road to the border crossing. Anyone have any detailed directions? I'm going to try googling around, but I followed the signs, got off somewhere in town and then didn't see any more. Finally find some more San Diego signs but they just took me in a circle around the line without ever getting to it. Had to pay a taxi driver to show me where it was and it was kinda tricky and I was already lost so I definitely couldn't replicate it.

After all that, it took me 2 hours to cross. FML.

ya there is a sd route # 5 sign pointing to go right and if u take it you are in a highly populated TJ road and its a nightmare to get back! (sign is obv wrong) don't make a mistake of taking the sentri line with no pass. Been there done that and was warned and thoroughly searched! Could pay a healthy fine, but when you come back from getting *** ed up from that sign it can happen.

I prefer Corona to any other mexican beer I've tried.

They also have kind of a corona generic ripoff called Sol if I remember right, not as good.

I don't like Tecate that much i felt like it had kind of a metalic taste I guess, I just didn't like it.

Pacifico is a bit too light for me, kind of like a light beer, but if u don't like dark beer then there you go.

I like dos equis ok some days I love it some I don't, I have no idea why I think that's a bit darker than corona, and negra modelo is pretty dark. I only tried that once when I used to be a logger and some of the mexican dudes I worked with suggested it, back then I didnt like dark beer so i hated it, no idea what i would think of it now.

I don't really think not having 'too much to do' in Rosarito will be that big of a deal for us, we're not huge out doors people and don't go clubbing or anything like that really so I don't think that's a problem. I thought from the pics that the beaches didn't look that great, but is the water really cold? I used to go to San Diego about once a year and thought the water was pretty decent even in April and May, is it colder further south or do we just have different standards since I'm from WA state.

I mean as long as there is SOME beach that I could go chill on on some nice days here and there and can find a sweet condo with decent fitness center I think I'd be pretty happy regardless of the rest. Feasible?

Really? So how do you get to the border if not by making a right shortly after that sign?

I think I *have* gotten there taking the right after the sign (there's a fake right-turn that just leads to an alley but an actual street just after it)...Then the problem is you arrive at an intersection with no signage. But if you take a left there, you will see another sign for San Diego.

It's a little tricky to get into the correct lane, you basically don't want to take the far right lane, since that is the "Servicios Medicos" line (is this different from Sentri?) and I was not searched there, but glared at and had to loop back.

I feel like the above directions are even more confusing than anything, but imo:

1. Take the right after the sign that says "San Diego/5"
2. Take a left at the first intersection
3. Get in the lane that says "San Diego" which is NOT the one on the far right but can be confused for it.

Also, someone alerted me to the fact that there's another point of entry 6 miles east called Otay Mesa. I haven't checked it out, and it might not be open 24/7, but supposedly the waits are consistently less bad than San Ysidro, probably a good out if you need to leave during rush hours.

Otay is open 24/7 and "Ready Lane". complete info here http://www.northbajasales.com/2011/0...miguel-sedano/
About the "servicios medicos" line, I want you to try it next time you go back and report. (if possible) I will give you a Pass

Oh, I "tried it" (accidentally) and was turned around...What are those paper passes they asked for and what is the purpose of that lane?
Official Rosarito Thread Quote

The Original purpose of that lane was for medical patients to be able to come down to TJ and not worrying about spending 3 hours (worst case scenario) crossing back the border to California, Doctors will give their patients the "Medical Pass" to use that special lane and save in average 50% waiting time vs regular lane.

Today the "Medical Lane" is more "Medical & Tourist Services", that's why some Tourist Providers like Hotels and Restaurants (Ollie's Pizza does) might offer you those "pases" for your business.

I took the unmarked immediate left (after realizing I made a mistake by not taking it), but then I still got lost. Maybe I got in the far right lane but that didn't work. So after I take that left at the intersection, then what do I do? Because clearly I tried following the San Diego signs but that didn't work.

Does anyone know the correct SWIFT code for Santander locally?

"BMSXMMXMM" did not work for a wire.

There's a list here...is it the Tijuana maybe? Thx!

Your directions are correct... The San Diego sign you're talking about is actually above the correct lane you're supposed to be in, but as you're approaching it, it appears to point to the lane on the right. Typical Mexico. After you make the left at the unmarked intersection (again, typical Mexico) just take it slow and stay to the left and you'll be fine.

Yes, thank you for explaining the sign confusion better than I did...

but fwiw you don't want to go ALL the way left, correct? I think there's a 3rd lane on the far left, no idea where that goes.
