Tourist visa should be fine to open a bank acct, I talked my way into opening my Santander acct w/out one at all, but this was nearly 3 yrs ago and I know the banks procedures have changed a bit in that time
So, I went to Banamex and Banknorte, they both need an FM3. The guy at Banamex told me that Bancomer can open an account w a phone, electric, or water bill (no cell phone or cable bills allowed). So now I've got my realtor, Mario Navaro (recommended on this thread and a nice guy but doesnt know **** about poker players needs) trying to get the home owner to switch a utility bill into my name. I guess in the mean time, I could try Santander or go to the immigration office and see whats up w getting an FM 2 or 3.
FML, wasting so much time from following ignorant advice.
