When swimming in the ocean at Rosarito Beach Mexico I recommend the backstroke.

Water is kinda cold fwiw even during summer. I think id only go out if i was surfing and then would have a wetsuit.

I run the beach daily and see the runoff but legitimately it's prob like swimming in an olympic sized pool that one kid has peed in.

I'm getting down to San Diego in 2 weeks and am going to start looking for a place from there. I'm thinking club marena is ideal, but I'm open to whatever works the best when the time comes.

Down to grab food somewhere in TJ before too, though they have good food at the park. Ill throw it out on skype too just trying to gauge interest. Level of play is prob like USA AA but easily one of the most fun stadium experiences Ive had watching live sports.
I'm in for this. Send me a pm on Skype.

According to like a page back when I asked the same question it shouldn't be an issue as long as your dog is up to date on its shots and you have documentation for it. Hope your Pug enjoys the trip!!

Does anybody have any recent info about the gaming legislation in Mexico? I cannot seem to find too much in regards to it, but I read a recent post on here saying there is talk that it will be going into effect after September... Here is a post from Miguel last year talking about it, hopefully we can get some more information.

Though there are personal and professional associations to the topic; some may even consider conflicts of interest, the following information is intended to provide more fact than fiction, specifics instead of speculation, and hope over all hell breaking loose. The truth is that time is ticking and days left of/for online poker in Mexico could be very well limited. The goal is to enjoy the quality of life while you can. Changes are coming, but it is not all instant doom and gloom. It is important to note, there is no crystal ball in front of me, there is no history or study of law, and these opinions and educated/informed guesses are based on someone who has experienced life, love, and changes in Mexico over thirteen years.

At this time, it is declared that the agenda here is to provide online poker players details regarding what may be in store. It is the understanding and responsibility of each individual to pick and choose; deciding if making the move to Mexico is right for them. Personally; accountability and liability is not mine to carry, especially regarding monetary losses. It is with much pride, principle, positive reputation, and sincere/genuine interest, that I share all of the following:

In short...

Online Poker should be around and available another 18-24 months. (Hopefully longer.)
Very unlikely; worst case scenario, another 6-8 months.

These suggested time lines vary greatly on communication and compliance by the poker/sports betting sites with upcoming legislation and Mexican Law.

There is an enormous amount of information to share. It is hard to be completely clean, clear, crisp, and concise.

Quick Breakdown:

This Bill/Act did not originally target online poker. In truth, GAMBLING was 1 of 166 articles/topics to be addressed under new measures by the PRI. ("Partido Revolucionario Institucional" or Institutional Revolutionary Party) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institu...utionary_Party

Considerations of the Bill itself: http://yogonet.com/english/2013/05/0...new-gaming-law

Quick Assessment of companies affected: http://gamingzion.com/mexico

Senate Session is out until September 2013. (3 months.)
Senate has 180 Days to present to President. (6 months.)
President has 180 Days to sign after all ratifications/addendums. (6 months.)

It is important to know/remember that the PRI's primary objective is to “modernize” the country. Considerations go first and foremost to those articles/acts which will benefit stability, health, growth, revenue, improve economy, and create better lives for citizens and community. Main measures and focuses under the reinstatement of PRI include Energy, Tax, and Labor Rights/Laws.

Creating a “controlled” Agency/Council for regulation and securities will take a lot of time. It will be trial and error. At the root of it all, it is to establish and implement an Anti Mafia Organization. Control will start at the physical locations/buildings/casinos. If and/or when the law passes, there will be time, loopholes, and plenty of hurdles to be overcome. (Again; this is all subject to communication and compliance by the poker/sports betting sites themselves.) Poker will not always be what it is now, but there is time to grind. What better way than to be part of this Mexican culture and community until you can't??? Realistically, poker should be legal in California before all laws are proper, regulated, and enforced here in Mexico.

Good Luck at the Tables.

For anyone looking for a cheap apartment, the one next to mine appears to be for rent. It's gated, but not sure whether there would be room for a car or not. I parked my (older) car on the street for a couple months and had no problems. There are only two units in this building, mine and the one for rent.

I assume it's a mirror unit to mine, in which case it's a 2 bed/1 bath. I pay 2800 pesos/month. Electric and water is about $20-25/month, although if you use a ton of electricity, it could be substantially more.

It's about a mile east of El Nido, El Yaqui, and Vince's. The area is safe.
It's on the second floor, which is nice for ventilation. The floors are large tile. The water pressure is very good. No problems with bugs. Located very close to an Oxxo, produce markets, eateries and street food, weekly street market (aka swap meet), and various typical local small businesses. Within one block, there are taxis, calafias to the Blvd. and calafias to TJ.

Only possible drawbacks I can think of:

A) can be a bit noisy at times, but not horribly so... just the typical local Mexican street noises... haven't had barking dogs, which is a nice suprise

B) it's in an "authentic" area, so it would help to know at least some Spanish... I don't know all that much, but get by fine

C) don't know the status of Telnor upgrades, as there was a hold on new Telnor accounts until they finished these... I sorta suspect they were doing these in July, as I had 3-4 relatively brief interruptions of service in the span of about a week, and that's basically the only time I've had any issue with the internet... lived in this area for about 1.5 years in total, and internet has been perfect 99.99% of the time

PM me here or contact me on Skype and I will give you the number of the off-site manager (he's in TJ I think). He doesn't speak any English, so if you don't speak Spanish, perhaps I can try to arrange a day/time to see the place.
