Few quick questions.
When u move in do most places require first , last and/or a deposit?
Does internet require a deposit?
How much do u have to put in your bank account to open it?
Does Mexico(not the country but apts/banks) do credit check or things of that nature?

Looking to move down there on a small roll and wanna know what ppl have paid to move in and get going... Any help would be great!

Hey guys. It was looking like I was all set up to live with shmoo, then the very last PM I sent him was asking if I could show up 2 or 3 days early because flights were way cheaper, and he's been ducking me for some unknown reason. I still really want to go to Rosarito though, so I come here asking if anybody has a room that I could rent for the month of October.

It'd be awesome if someone could help me out, got really excited to come down there and now it looks like it might not happen.

He did the exact same thing to me.

I don't have an extra room but my advice would to be to just set up a meeting with Miguel and come down without a place. He will take you to see a bunch of options and get everything set up.

I am moving from my 1 bedroom apartment in October (probably mid-October).

It has (my) fridge, but no stove.

It's not on the beach, but about a half mile east in Colonia de Mazatlan.

It's not a luxury condo, but it's cheap and convenient.

Has internet and sat TV, but not sure whether those can be transferred into another person's name (if anyone knows this, please post such info).

Would be good for someone on a very limited BR.

PM me if interested.

I'd really much prefer to live with other grinders while I'm down there. Have zero interest in getting a place by myself.

I'm getting a 2 or 3 bedroom by myself starting in the next few weeks. I've been told it's really easy to fill empty rooms.

I'm looking to lease a house for players we stake in Rosarito. Looking to get a 5+ bedroom place down there. Considering that we most likely won't have a car, is there a certain part of Rosarito people recommend in particular?

Thanks,
Shane

very easy...look at alllll the people looking for available rooms but nobody actually going to find a house/condo.

We've also had like 3 roommates move out in the last year, and each time we have a room open its gotten many many responses. So not just complete speculating

In case I can't find a place with Miguel, i'd be looking to fill a spot Nov. 1st. I'd prefer a 6mo lease and will pay up to 6mo rent in advance to a settled spot. I'm 28 and coming from San Diego, am generally pretty quiet and low key, and would be sticking to my room mostly on a serious grind.

Always down to let loose for some balance though, and i'll also be visiting friends/drinking in San Diego once or twice a month, anyone is welcome. Zero chance of me busting my roll at HK, I've already gone thru those wild addictive days before I seriously played poker while regging at a badass but less saucy club in the east coast. Link to my very brief history/goal 12 posts up

Have some reference from a Rosarito grinder that I knew from K-12 in school, and who's helped me a ton in sticking with poker since 2009. PM or reply if interested. Thanks.

golf courses or penthouses in condos would probably be your best bet. Biggest place we saw was 4bed 4bath penthouse at la jolla del mar and they were asking 2500 or 3k iirc.

You are probably going to want to live in town if you don't have a car, I am not sure of the availability of 5+ bedroom places in town though, I did see that some guy had a pretty large place near Walmart, which is in town.

That said, Boliver mentioned he was selling his Lexus for 1k (since he is moving to Columbia), you may want to consider something like that, as it seems that most of the nicer communities with large homes, are on the outskirts of town, and assuming you guys will likely be going out to eat a lot, running to the bank, etc..etc...You are either going to want transportation, or live within walking distance of establishments.

look around for penthouses in downtown buildings

shop around and you can find some pretty good value. we've been here since june in a 2 story/4 br place that can house an army

there are also some houses in the downtown area we've been thinking about looking into. i cant imagine living outside of downtown without a car.

downtown rosarito on a convenience scale of 1-10 for poker players who dont drive is about a 9.5. it's a sleepy little beach town where the cars stop for you to cross the street. you can walk to groceries/banks/restaurants/convenient store/tobacco shop/the main bar/club and it runs adjacent to the main beach in town. there are several delivery options. anywhere you cant walk to you can get a cab for 30 pesos.

its worth every dollar to live in town and not have to drive ever.

What do you guys all do for health insurance? How are the hospitals/doctors down there?

If I wanted to start looking at apartments online, can anyone suggest a good website? As it's my girlfriend and me and we don't have a car, I assume we'd want to be living downtown. What's a ball-park figure for one of those downtown penthouses that were referenced/month?

Thanks.

Is it ok to just go there, stay for a few days in a hotel and go apartment hunting? I'll be going from Uruguay. Do you recommend finding something before I go? I prefer to visit the places first and shop around, I get the feeling that I'll be able to find better places if I go there in person before commiting.

One more thing, I dont own a car... Downtown Rosarito also has the kind of "luxury" apartment jdawg or live@pompeii have? If so, are the prices higher for being downtown?

thx!

+1 to what marty said. i originally chose calafia because i was paranoid of the safety. now that i realize i don't have much to worry about, i'm gonna relocate to either la jolla or further downtown once the current lease is up. it's really clutch to have an OXXO within walking distance.
