Any thoughts about Las Olas Grand (proximity to activities, etc)? I have gotten a few responses from baja123 and that one seems to be best. Is 1k/month for a 2BR good (it is for me, but no clue if I'm getting raped)?

There is def cheaper options, but this is a very nice building. It is in south Rosarito so it is not in the down town area.

When are you going down to look at them? I'm curious if there is much in the general are as well. As I have been looking into moving into this place as a possibility too.

I'm going to get everything done before next week. The guy I'm talking to is Mario Navarro; I have tried googling him, but couldn't find reviews about him. Is he legit?

I mean, for a 2 BR by the beach and very nice furniture (at least from the photos), 1k seems ******edly cheap to me. If I get a room mate, its 500/month. My last apartment was $2,400 for a 500 sq ft 1BR apartment in San Francisco LOL. I just don't want to be a sucker and pay more than market value.

Thanks for all the people that are active in this thread. Basically decided to move there after reading through it and would have been lost without everyone else's input (still pretty lost though).

I'm a Premier member at HSBC and they have a branch in Rosarito so I'll have a bank account opened before I get there (they open bank accounts for you in foreign countries). So all I need is a copy of the lease and a Mexican number for the poker site to call. Any advice on ISP?

Boliver, did you ever find someone reliable to cook/clean for you on Sundays?

Are there non high-rise condo/gated development type residences? Or is it either stand-alone house or high-rise buildings?

Overall, are you all finding the living experience to be efficient/fun? Any downsides?

Thanks for the thread...definitely eying this area as a possibility after Canada...the proximity to SoCal is especially appealing.

im no expert on Rosarita, but one thing i pulled frm this thread is you dont want to fwd ANY cash before you get there. My plan is to get there, find the place and hand over cash. Not sayin youll get scammed, but you might. cant see a reason to risk it as there are tons of options.

I have no intention of paying until I have signed the lease and have the keys

What is the word on aircards? Just hit telcel and get the max amount of GBs? Do you have to sign a longer than month to month contract? Those of you with Telnor dsl, how long did it take to get set up? Thanks.

sickest spot ever snap call for 1k. That is for las olas GRAND not las olas MAR Y SOL....there are two.
edit: we were told 2.5k for a 2 bedroom when we were there, and honestly it's a reasonable price that many people would overpay for.

Hit telcel, get 3gb aircard. this will last i think 3200 hours or something if all you download is text. Obviously youtube and normal browsing rape the airtime out of the thing, but if you ONLY played poker on it it'd last a month easy. You can do a lease for 10gb/mo I believe...but that puts you in a weird spot, because 10gb is still not enough to stream and download videos carefree for a month, and you'd have to ration it out anyways.

Telcel, once you get all the necessary **** sorted out, took like 3 days to hook up? It will vary alot, as sometimes they need to install a phone line, sometimes there is already one there, and sometimes you need someone's permission to add internet to the phone line.

Baja Wireless is $75/mo, and $300 installation of a big ass antennae on your roof. Sounds expensive but also less prone to fail.
Telnor is like $40/mo for 10mbps, and $75 for either 15 or 20...i forget what their fastest one is.
Cablemas or something has another service I havent looked into.

Food delivery - I don't much. I prob should. I have 3-4 menus of places that deliver...some of it is standard american **** as well like spaghetti and meatballs. Another place looks super healthy with all these weird berry smoothies and protein organic type of hippie place.
and obv a few mexican places

I'm sure it'd be easy to set yourself up with someone who would deliver to you regularly...even at places that don't advertise to deliver. I'm more interested in a maid/cook scenario. Found a skatepark today and will be making some local homies soon, then I'll get one of their smokin hot 8th street latina sisters to come clean and cook and make sure everything is polished park looks pretty sick too, im hyped!

That'd be sick to have someone to skate with! No pics but it's mostly bigger stuff, like two sets of 7 and 10 stairs w small rail, some banks, flatbars, and alot of realllly good looking hubba's.

Also found one in Tijuana the other day that looks pretty fun.

I thought I was set on Los Olas Grand, but after Nemo's input, kind of pointless to move there if I can't play; I can do that in LA.

Starting to focus on Plaza Del Mar... any thoughts on the place, ESPECIALLY internet connection if the area and whether I can attain an IP address in Mexico.

With the wired internet at Las Olas Grand (multi cable) we are able to access ladbrokes (microgaming) and ipoker sites. The telcel 3g cards work from inside our place most of the day, during peak hours at night from like 6-12 it gets very laggy inside but still works fine on our balcony for some reason. The internet company told us, like they told someone else in this thread, that they are moving to mexican ips but no idea when or if its even true.

I am set on it as well, but would rather find a solution then just change buildings. I really like the amenities there!! It really is a top notch spot.

Ty for the info. I have a place lined up there and I really like the building. I don't really want to go anywhere else. I hope they really move it to a Mexican IP. Do you like the place otherwise? Is it as cool as it looks?

We need to get Stars to realize there's a bunch of grinders here that are living in Rosarito Mexico and plenty more coming and the IP is not our fault. There has to be someone who can see this and make the proper adjustment so we all don't have to jump through hoops to get proper internet/approval.

Who can we talk to?

where do we go from here?
