let's say FTP begins process of paying out tomorrow. Is it going to be possible to be lumped in with ROW players and get paid from Tapie? Or are we stuck going through DOJ (I'm assuming that will be a big pain in the ass)

If giving the option, which way would be better?

Is it way too early to tell? (and get excited!!!!!!)
I am assuming that getting paid by the DOJ is better than being part of ROW. I did not change my FTP address so I am biased.

I would expect the ROW to NOT be able to immediately withdraw. I would guess there will be a time limit on withdrawals with the stipulation that if you play x hands you can withdraw at some time y before withdrawal date.

I just wanted to give a big thanks to the guys that sent me some real estate contacts. I am setup now and looking forward to playing.

Has anyone bought a bike here or have you found just walking and catching cabs where ever? From what I can gather cabs are pretty darn expensive compared to the rest of Mexico. I am probably going to buy a bike in the upcoming weeks.

Also, has anyone eaten at a decent taqueria close to 5th? I have only seen one or two. I guess they are mostly on the other side of town or something. I could go for some tacos al pastor right about now though.

Hey guys, hoping you can help me out with a few things

- seems like its very easy to live in playa without a car? Is it mostly walking, biking, or cabs? Easy to buy groceries and stuff just walking around?

-how much would it cost to rent a nice clean place on the beach? Doesn't have to be big space, just clean and in a safe area

-how often do you disconnect while grinding?

-anybody have an idea on how to bring or get a 30in monitor out there?

Thanks in advance for any answers

Most anywhere you live in playa, basic necessities are walkable. For groceries there will be a line of cabs outside to take you back (rides are 25-35 pesos, no meters its an interesting system, they will try and charge you more if you are white). Mostly cabs, like 20% of vehicles are cabs, very easy to go anywhere. A bike would probably come in handy, they are used a lot, along with mopeds (which I think cost 6-700)

For rent Im guessing most 2br on 5th or closer will be 1500-2300.

I have disconnected 2 or 3 times I think in 3.5 months, but I also have a slow connection with no back up cuz thats how I roll. We went to 1 of the 2 internet providers to get a better package, but they dont service to my area for some reason. I haven't heard anyone I know that has one of the better Inet packages complain about that at all. That kinda sucks (live on 20th & 24th for reference) I think telecel sells "pay as you go" internet card that a lot of ppl use (at least in the rosarito thread I got that impression)

I UPS my monitors out here (2-27') which cost $650 and they damn near broke everything. luckily it was heavily bubbled wrapped/etc. The easiest/best way is to find a way to take it on the plane with you. Customs may give you a hastle and make you pay some sorta tax, but I doubt it (assuming you have a laptop too, they have some kind of 1 computer per person rule)

I think flying monitors is ok. Just pack them well in a suitcase and you will be fine. A friend of mine flew down two 22s and hasnt had a problem. I flew a 24 down and have flown it many times in a soft suitcase without problem.

Internet seems good, but might possibly flicker some. I am going to upgrade to faster internet soon I think, but I dont have a problem with the speed. It seems fine, can't hurt to get faster.

As for transportation I might end up buying a bike, but only time I really need it is to go to wal-mart. I think I will just take cabs back. It is like a 6-7 block walk from my place so that is no problem.

same post as some others, there is not way too much in the thread on it though, considering moving here after Xmas or so, it appears there is no airport in Playa, so did you guys fly in to Cancun and take the hit on a cab there? Also, best site to find a 3 month rental, preferably on the beach and close to the good night life? Do you recommend flying in and staying at a hotel for a few nights while looking around, I've found the online sites to rip me off in some countries and some times my best bet has been searching when I've arrived. I can apartment hunt in Spanish which should help some.

Fly into cancun

After you clear customs there will be a bunch of Mexicans selling you this and that, you can buy a bus ticket at the last booth on the left (ADO) for 110 pesos or $11. Just ask the people where ADO is, they should all speak English

You can also do a cab, I think they charge ~$50

Only other option is Cozumel, similiar expenses to get to PDC (cabs + ferries) but I believe most flights through cancun are cheaper.

I would recommend hotel before agreeing to anything, who knows what kind of scams etc are out there.

sounds awesome, thanks for the tips, seems like most in this thread found places nice and quick, if I move there it'd be for a 3 month lease so if anyone had a buddy or person as an agent they'd like to refer to me then just shoot me a PM

there are restaurants you can take them too and they cook it up for you. Or cook them yourself.

Also isn't "stuffing" or whatever the fish equivalent to bears, deers etc a thing? I would completely be on board with having a marlin hanging in my office

Yes any taxidermist should be able to handle something like that I would imagine. I have no idea how that works in Mexico though.

Or sell the fish to someone else that might want to eat it. Then you can robusto your poker account.

A 754 pound tuna recently sold for almost $396,000.
